SignUp Now!I'm relieved to hear that it's not misspelled throughout the entire media guide! It's a strange error. "Texassports" is correct for the first 9-10 pages, then it's misspelled for 60 pgs, then it's correct again through the end of the guide.
Details matter. Even small ones. I keep thinking back on the story of John Wooden and his socks and shoes lesson. I know people get tired of me saying it, but Bellmont is an environment. Part of that environment is the athletes, not just in football, but in all sports. Another part of that is the staff and administrators who manage the athletics department. The brand of UT as a whole is supposed to be leadership and excellence. A good proofreader charges $60/hr and does about 4 pages each hour. It is easy to do the math and figure out what it would have cost to have the media guide proofread. If was sent to an outside proofreader, that person screwed up and should be fired. If it wasn't proofread, someone inside Bellmont who is responsible for media relations (ahem), is cutting corners and made a decision that cost the image of the program far more than the cost of doing it right the first time.I was in the newspaper business for 17 years, about 12 of that behind a managing editor's desk. Most newspaper articles do not have typos in every story. You might see one or two per page. When you count how many words are on a newspaper page, then one or two become acceptable.
A journalist is a wordsmith. He makes his living crafting the English language. It's his primary tool, much as a trowel is a mason's primary tool. You're expected to master it.
Chitown - this "typo" (singular) is repeated on every single page on a very large media guide. Every single page. A nice little reminder no matter what page you're on.
not to mention, what they are focusing upon, is just to trivial. it makes them seem so very desperate. you would think that they would indeed be embarrassed by their silly season behavior.OU needs to find their little victories where they can. TexasStrong is getting ready to ride roughshod over them - for a very, very long time.
you think we wouldn't be howling at the ags, or ou for that matter, if they'd done something similar? it'll fade soon enough, but we brought ridicule upon ourselves.not to mention, what they are focusing upon, is just to trivial. it makes them seem so very desperate. you would think that they would indeed be embarrassed by their silly season behavior.
