David Ash was named National Player of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards yesterday. Ash also earned Big 12 offensive player of the week award from the conference.

Congrats to Ash.

Ash isn't the most outspoken guy. He gets much of his respect and confidence from his play. So these accolades will only help him become more comfortable in the huddle and confident in the pocket and become a better leader. Good for him.

He is light years ahead of last year in his performance and I think it stems from his patience. One play in particular stood out to me..He was on a roll out left and got a lot of pressure. The play was a screen pass but his back was covered. Instead of throwing it away or forcing a run he continued to roll out and his wide receiver came open. He completed the pass for a 8 yard gain. Last year he panics and runs but this year he made the play..

All the David Ash doubters should be ashamed at this point in the game. Still a way to go in the season but he is a reconfigured young man.

I was a doubter, and I've been extremely impressed with Ash so far, but let's see how he does against a team from a BCS conference that won 3 or more games last season before we start telling people to be ashamed.
