One caveat fellows: I'm posting from my iPhone, which is a pain, so please forgive any misspellings/mistakes.

The rants and raves are getting a bit redundant. Please allow me to recap. Swoopes is a good young man, but he played 2A high school football and does not have the necessary tools to play FBS ball. I agree with this.

Our defense was on the field for over 41 minutes. Let that sink in. The were playing a sizeable OL for over 2/3 of the football game, and we lost most of our depth to the dline over the course of the year. Really, java? Yes, really. Deal with it. And, yes, Bluitt was out. I saw one of his relatives before the game and thought about asking, but decided they get enough of that.

D'Onta Foreman was out, as well. I don't believe he was even dressed out. Possibly D'Onta tweaked that injury he had earlier. Daje? He was on the field a lot, but more than once I saw Ship or Harris correcting his positioning. Don't expect him to be reading defenses and adjusting anytime soon.

I believe it was early in the 3rd, Ridgeway came off the field (Brown had been out for possibly 2 plays), and something was wrong. I couldn't tell if it was his helmet or the side of his head.

The point is this: we were thin following the dismissals. We got thinner due to injury, and we became thinner still during the game. Mack was guilty of neglecting our program and failing to develop players. His management post 2009 Championship Game was a travesty.

If you are looking for solutions for Monday night, look to the future. If you are looking for someone to blame, some will find it readily and others may have to do some soul-searching.

That's ok, JB. You are entitled, but remember tonight is New Year's Eve. Celebrate!

Good thread and no typos that I saw Java.  ;)

I intend to celebrate New Year's Eve tonight by not thinking about the disappointing 2014 season.... after that I will try to limit my thoughts on 2014 and instead focus my attention on the Horns recruiting and closing strong on some very good talent still on the table.

Cheers to all !

Thanks, Worster. Darn the autocorrect on these phones. I hope you enjoy your celebration! Great plan.

We will get there, stp. Just have to play the hand we were dealt, but help is on the way!

My biggest frustration is the offense. Like STP said, we have regressed from the beginning to the end of the season. Maybe the coaches realized this season was going nowhere so they kept the redshirt on Heard, but I have a hard time believing that we would be worse off with him than Swoopes.

That offense is just awful and there HAS to be some kind of change.

The biggest problem is that Watson is trying to fit square pegs into round holes. We do not have a quarterback on the roster that really fits Watson's offense. It seems to me that Watson needs to tweak his offense to fit what talent we have. Of course, I don't think that much would have helped with Swoopes, but Heard is not a pro style quarterback either. And we won't have one until Gentry is ready to play.

Agreed.  To me this is the biggest thing to watch for come spring time.  Will Watson adapt/tweak or will Heard be asked to fit.  I think this spring will tell us lot's about this staff and whether they will ultimately be successful here.  Will they evaluate their performance and adjust/improve?  That's what will determine our improvement on that side of the football.  Until then all of this bitching about not calling trick plays etc. is a waste of space.

I was over the arky game with my last post on the way home from the game.

I'm now in baseball mode.

Guys, I don't know how many of you dance with your wives/girlfriends, but I titled this post "Dancing with Bears" because it is hopeless to teach some people to dance, period. Dancing with my ex-husband was much like Dancing with a Bear. He had no timing, no rhythm, no sense of the music. Nothing.

I was envisioning trying to teach Tyrone to play qb. How? Where do you start? You must start with mechanics, but after an entire season he doesn't have the footwork, and his throwing mechanics go in the toilet the moment he is under pressure.

It simply wouldn't be possible to teach him to read a defense.

Simply put, I hope that he can learn to run routes because I think he is a really good person and an intelligent one. He just doesn't happen to have a quarterback mentality.
