One caveat fellows: I'm posting from my iPhone, which is a pain, so please forgive any misspellings/mistakes.
The rants and raves are getting a bit redundant. Please allow me to recap. Swoopes is a good young man, but he played 2A high school football and does not have the necessary tools to play FBS ball. I agree with this.
Our defense was on the field for over 41 minutes. Let that sink in. The were playing a sizeable OL for over 2/3 of the football game, and we lost most of our depth to the dline over the course of the year. Really, java? Yes, really. Deal with it. And, yes, Bluitt was out. I saw one of his relatives before the game and thought about asking, but decided they get enough of that.
D'Onta Foreman was out, as well. I don't believe he was even dressed out. Possibly D'Onta tweaked that injury he had earlier. Daje? He was on the field a lot, but more than once I saw Ship or Harris correcting his positioning. Don't expect him to be reading defenses and adjusting anytime soon.
I believe it was early in the 3rd, Ridgeway came off the field (Brown had been out for possibly 2 plays), and something was wrong. I couldn't tell if it was his helmet or the side of his head.
The point is this: we were thin following the dismissals. We got thinner due to injury, and we became thinner still during the game. Mack was guilty of neglecting our program and failing to develop players. His management post 2009 Championship Game was a travesty.
If you are looking for solutions for Monday night, look to the future. If you are looking for someone to blame, some will find it readily and others may have to do some soul-searching.
