Crossfire with McPhaul - 11/20/2013

A poster on IT said it best today, IMO. Consider Saban as a tropical wave in the Atlantic - The Weather Channel tracking models (the insider "Saban to Texas reports") have landfall, in the next 4-5 days, on the Gulf coast, with the probability (75%) being the state of Texas.
Does this seem reasonable to you?
Maybe I've had too much organic chemistry today.but I'm lost in this analogy. Are they trying to say it's a 75% chance that within 4-5 days Saban will be named hc of ut?

I am tired of caring about the program in its present state so I have decided to start ranting about the media relations people inside Bellmont, specifically Nick Voinis and Bill Little. I don't know either of them, but from what people on the board have said. Nick is a prick and Bill is a rather nice individual. I don't think either has a freaking clue how to use social media to connect the fans with the sports programs. Their obsession with what is being said is reason enough in my mind to remove them from the payroll. Think about it. They could get a student intern with a digital camera to take pictures of the gameday experience showing how the staff gets ready, what the locker rooms look like, during the pregame meal, in the tunnel about to come out, sidelines during the game and clean up after. The program from a unique perspective. No cost. It would have most of us occupied for a couple of hours per week, let recruits see inside the program and help the fans connect with the through social media. Do they do something like that, no. Instead, they hover over message boards obsessing with the effects of their lousy job performance. I could come up with a hundred ways to use media to help the fans connect with the programs. They can't come up with any. I hope Patterson cleans house in Bellmont and I hope he does it ruthlessly. Whoever the new coach is, I hope we give him a program he is worthy of and I hope he starts rebuilding soon.
Randolph, the quality of your posts have impressed me enough to pay attention to what you say. Bravo, my man!

LOL- I'm a kid mechanic, not a journalist. I understood the analogy and I assumed everyone else would. And, by-the-way, I hated Organic Chemistry. :)

McPhaul, if you have followed me on this site and IT, you will have discovered I have been trying to vet YOU and your credibility factor. I'm sure you understand why as there have been so many "insiders' that claim to have critical information. The responses (mostly OB posters) have been favorable so good on you.For your own personal info I should tell you that two very good friends of mine (we went to school together at UT and one all the way from grade school in Austin) have provided me with tidbits of info along the way. They are mega-wealthy and extremely invested in all things UT - they are not on the level of Red and McCombs, but are close. I have refused and I refuse now, to trade on their friendship and trust, so, over the past two years I have simply probed "insiders" info to see if it has jibed with what my friends tell me really went down. That has been my benchmark to see if the reporters were legit or just delivering BS to create hits or "look at me" status.

Suffice it to say, the IT reporters have been dead on, 98% of the time.

And you should know this - at this point there is no official search committee for a head coach. There has only been a few informal agent inquiries. In fact, the search committee used for the AD will not be the same for a coach - remember, Mack Brown is still the head coach.

Oh, by-the-way, good work on this site.
Hey Doc,

I guess we all get lucky every now and then:)? I grew up in Austin. My family was in the home building business. My father and uncle knew and met a lot of people over the years. My uncle used to play golf with Darrell all the time. As a matter fact, my name is Darrell. I used to cover all the UT Athletic events and the Dallas Cowboys training camp in Austin back in the 90's. I have also co-hosted the Max Emfinger radio show back in the day so, as you can see, I have been involved for a long time.

I get my information from multiple sources and sometimes/lately it has been conflicting. Talk about being confused on what you are going to share with the group?

I'm a big fan of the Inside Texas Staff. Clendon Ross does a really good job running that site. I'm doing my best to learn from him. I also chose to carry only the good memories I have for my days spent on Orange Bloods. I have been extremely fortunate to have met some wonderful human beings over there and have developed friendships that will last a lifetime.

However, I'm happy to call Hornsports.com my home/site today and in the future.

I really appreciate you taking the time to recognize the hard work we are all putting in to make Hornsports.com a viable option for a source of Longhorn news.

Please don't be a stranger.

Darrell

If everything goes as planned and we do sign Saban I'm going to have this made for my Bama fan buddy who calls me at least once a week to tell me how stupid the rumors of Saban even considering Texas are.

One of the things I really like about this forum is the civility of the discussions. IT has many posters that feel the need to personally attack a poster they disagree with. I understand that was a problem at OB as well. Hopefully this site won't go down that disagreeable path.

FYI, I grew up in the Brykerwoods area of Austin. I have played golf with Royal myself. In fact I had to have surgery on my back that I attribute directly to DKR and his penchant for stomping on the pedal, of his souped up golf cart, before I was fully seated. :)

I grew up in Allandale Estates right off Shoal Creek & Steck Ave. My father and uncle's attended Austin High back in the 40's. Austin High was the only HS in town in those days. They grew on East Ave which is now called I-35. When I-35 was built, the city bought my grandmothers house and move her across the highway. That house was bought by UT and that is where Disch Falk Field sits today. She then moved to an neighborhood close to Hancock Center.

I still have a brother and sister living in Austin.

I got my residency assignment in Houston and wound up practicing here as well. I always wanted to return to Austin, after graduating from UT, but alas never left Houston. If I remember Allandale, that was around Burnet road - right? I get lost in Austin now because it has changed so much. FYI, I lived two blocks from Shoal Creek, myself.

Austin High was the only school when I went to Jr. high at UJH - at least until McCallum and Travis were built.

Back on a modern day subject, it appears that Hurricane Saban is nearing the gulf coast and there is now an 80% chance of landfall on the Texas coast. This, in the face of your friend, El Mahico, vigorously denying Saban will ever come to Austin.

This excites me

Yes, Allandale was between Burnet Rd & Shoal Creek.

Yes again, my good buddy El Mahico is apparently not talking to the people I am.

As you know I have already stated that Saban is a done deal in my book. In last weeks Crossfire I mentioned the O&G deals that were already done with Tillerson. I knew at the point he was ours.
