FOB: I most certainly do. I had a lunch with a former coach last week and he said it is quite apparent to the Texas High School coaches that A&M has opened up the pocket books in a big way. Not that they ever stopped but, they are now paying on the SEC level.

 

Me: We all feared this would happen when A&M joined the SEC.

 

FOB: I know Coach Sumlin receives a bad rap from us Longhorn fans, but Kevin was always respected for doing it the right way before he was hired by A&M.

It is apparent that Kevin is not running the ship. The boosters are and Kevin cannot do anything to stop it.

 

Me: What if anything is going to come out of all of this?

 

FOB: Once you lose the support of the Texas High School coaches, recruiting is going to get a lot harder in the state. These coaches do NOT want to be associated with a cheating program and believe it reflects poorly on them.

 

Like a couple of others have stated, nothing will come of this. Aggies will not lose support of HS coaches. This has been and will continue. And for the person that wanted proof, talk to RSJ and his family, thats proof enough to investigate. But NCAA and Emmert are the worst run organization in America, by far!

Every school has 2 options vs the cheating in the southeast.

Q) Where is Mack? How recoverable is our relationship? I'm mad at him too but also recognize the overall value.

A) Mack and Sally have taken a couple of vacations. The problem with recovering the relationship is Mack & Sally are not ready. I would suggest that we all move on and let go any ill feelings we have towards Mack.

 

 

Q) In retrospect, was Strong always Patterson's man? When the information was leaked that a new coach would be hired within two weeks, was that actually a smokescreen to lull the BMDs to sleep so Patterson could hire his man a few days later with no BMD interference?

A) Once Patterson & Powers understood that Jamail and Mack were going to file a lawsuit against certain parties if any Jimmy Sexton client was hired, the decision was made by Patterson to stay clear of Sextons client’s.

With that said, the BMD’s that had Saban on the string were very confident the lawsuit had no merit and were prepared to handle it. Jimbo Fisher wanted the job too. Patterson wanted to deal directly with Fisher but, Fisher wanted him to deal through Sexton until the after the MNC game. Patterson was trying to exclude Sexton so; there could be no mention of interference by Brown & Jamail. In the end, Patterson decided it was better to avoid anymore drama that would really give our program a black eye and decided to move away from dealing with any Jimmy Sexton client.

I once held Mack in high regard and it will take a mountain for me to change my extreme dislike for that backstabbing jackass. Mack may have preached Texas and honesty but when it came down to it he chose himself and his selfish ways and it wasnt close. He needs to take more permanent vacations and never have anything to do with the University again. Get out and stay out. Not that i will see a cent of it but i dont care about Jamail $50 million either. He chose his friend and the downfall of Texas football over The University of Texas. SO THEY CAN BOTH GO TO HELL!!

I once held Mack in high regard and it will take a mountain for me to change my extreme dislike for that backstabbing jackass. Mack may have preached Texas and honesty but when it came down to it he chose himself and his selfish ways and it wasnt close. He needs to take more permanent vacations and never have anything to do with the University again. Get out and stay out. Not that i will see a cent of it but i dont care about Jamail $50 million either. He chose his friend and the downfall of Texas football over The University of Texas. As I'm sure most of you know, there are "friends" of every college program that are there to help a kid with a suit, shoes, cars, and cash. While the smoke has been burning for awhile in the TAMU camp, don't think for a second this activity is not at UT. I saw it first hand with SMU, UH, and UT since the 80s. Now, with this being said, most of these kids really really need the hand-out. It's not like getting a $20k check paid to momma. With all the whispers happening in the SEC, let's let it bake a little bit. Could be fun to watch !!!

Per NCAA rules, every school cheats and breaks rules. In my mind there is a difference in paying a kid $20 for pizza/buying him a suit and getting his mamma a car/paying him or family 100k. Then you get a lot of gray areas such as redoing a HS football facility so you team can practice for a bowl game, wheel that school happens to have a 5* and 4* you are recruiting and buying momma a bus/plane ticket so she can see her son play.

Regardless, the playing field is not level in college sports bc some programs flat out are very dirty. That must change in college sports. The NCAA is completely ineffective and bias when it comes to implementing its rules. Also, the rules must change to fit the 21st century.

The decision to pay a college athlete or not is a different issue.
