Current A&M players are telling recruits that they have a relationship with not to attend A&M.

Sumlin is desperately trying to narrow down the suspects and bench them.

That is why you did not see some of the 4 & 5 star recruits play last week.

Sumlin has also met with the bar owners in the Northgate and has threaten to have them shut down if they continue to serve his players.

The local B/CS TABC has been placed out in front of the Northgate bars to detour the A&M team members from entering.

Has Sumlin lost control or what?

Sumlin's has NEVER had control of that program. This wreaks of a desperate man trying to impose control due to external/internal pressure.

Question is – will they adhere and calm down the chaos? Or will they rebel against his tightened grip?

McPhaul, great stuff, as always.

What have you heard as far as their BMDs wanting him out? I've heard rumblings . . .

My aggy friend does not think Sumlin is in jeopardy yet. But if he does not get a new DC then it could get bad. The problem is on of the defensive coaches is the one recruiting Malik. If he goes then any chance of MJ going there is gone

LOL!

Now compare this:

Current A&M players are telling recruits that they have a relationship with not to attend A&M.

With this:

Steve Edmond - "It shows he cares more about you more than football. I've had coaches in the past do that, but at the same time it kind of felt different for Coach Strong because even outside of school and football, he'll talk to you about life. He'll joke with you. You can say anything to Coach Strong and you'll feel comfortable around him."

"Before he got here, I really didn't care about school. Ever since he got here my grades have been coming up. He made me feel like more of a man than a kid. So Coach Strong will make you grow up, make you accountable, and he's going to make sure you do everything right."

I think I know what school I'm looking to attend if I'm a recruit.

Great post and intell.  To answer your question, yes it appears Sumlin has lost control. He has a potential mutiny on some level on his hands.  It will be interesting to see the drama unfold on this one.

Hook 'Em!

Good grief...Sumlin recruited these boys with the idea that they wouldn't even have to attend class.

NOW he expects to impose some Strong-like discipline?  It's a complete 180 from the JFF glitz and swag that brought these players to Collie Station in the first place.  Good luck with that.

aggie gonna aggie

The problem with being a 'players coach', is that when discipline is needed, players aren't going to react to it the same way they would if they had viewed the coach as Authoritarian from the beginning.  They are much more likely to resent the coach than they are to accept the discipline for what it is.

He'll also have to deal with the fact that some of these recruits might have been looking at AtM precisely because of the laissez-faire attitude of the coaching staff - and how are they going to react if that suddenly changes, and they aren't winning?

Remember George Constanza's sleeping shelf he had built inside his oversized-desk while working for the NYY?

Kenny Hill needs one for this dumpster
