Chip Brown reporting Steve Patterson hired as new AD

I have no problem with Patterson as long as he doesn't bring Todd Graham with him! Of course, he'd be an upgrade too. We can do better at HC.

Patterson is reportedly very close to Saban so it shouldn't hurt us there.

I've been in favor of Luck from the beginning, but the more I read about Patterson's experience and past endeavors the more I liked him. I just did not believe that we were going anywhere but with Luck. Guess this proves that interviews do matter and nothing is ever a done deal until its signed on the dotted line.

I hope he comes in and cleans house like he did at ASU. Not to mention the guys who are apparently behind his hire like Moffett and Hicks according to cujo.

Lots of people saying Patterson will give Mack the 2014 season and Luck wanted Mack gone after this season. That's (one of) the reasons.

If this is the case the program has been set back another five years.

how many high school football games has mack attended this year on the recruiting trail? fireable offense. no excuse. sumlin was out before his biggest game of the year against bama.

247 reporting a source says Patterson has "agreed" to be the next AD.

I'm not going to believe it until it's announced at the press conference.

This would definitely go against his history of reforming an athletic dept. The guy fired over 100 guys in two years.

Change. It's coming.

Bullshit. The news isn't even 30 minutes old and no one knows anything yet. The rumors that are already flying around are hilarious.

ESPN just reported it's a done deal.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Patterson is the new Texas AD.

He has been very successful as a sports executive in TX. He has experience as a college AD. He should prove up to the task.

So how many Longhorns coaches will be replaced by summer of 2014?

An article on Sports Illustrated site is reporting that Patterson will be the next AD. Patterson and Luck were the two final candidates.

SI characterizes the job of Longhorns AD as one of the most coveted positions in college sports. If that's indeed the case, then the pool of candidates seems to have been miserably small. I'm sure there are many more qualified, proven administrators out there. But then, if DeLossy (brain dead) Dudd can stay on the job for three plus decades, what does it say about the caliber of higher up decision makers.
