Mack is absolutely coming back in 2014 regardless of the Baylor game because Jamail and McCombs are his best buddies and they only want him to leave when HE wants to leave. "This bad season was all because of injuries and there is no alternative better than Mack" will be the company line. There is no way the buffoons of Bellmont and Powers walk away from $250 - $400 million in future endowments from the dementia brothers. Mack is much more likely to get an extension and a raise to confirm UT's commitment to him for the future for recruiting purposes than to leave. That is the sad reality.

agree on Mack and the Saban news just gets more and more positive. stuff can always break down, but after what is out there today its hard not to be very optimistic

its possible to be someones friend and like them but also realize as a supporter of UT athletics and the school to the tune of millions its time for a change at the head coach position. You can believe what you want...and no I haven't actually talked to Mccombs to verity, but some very credible people have continued to say for months he is not fighting behind the scenes to keep Mack or prevent changes. Its also been said he is in on working the Saban deal with other heavy hitters like Bob Rowling who is as powerful (actually likely more) than McCombs at this point

No disrespect intended toward you. My information source is very plugged in and has a very different read on the situation. There is large faction that cares more about UT football than Mack but a much smaller faction of two that calls all the shots who cares more about Mack than UT football. They are two men who enjoy exercising their power. I very much hope that I am wrong.

Your assertion makes perfect sense but there are very powerful people who have a very different agenda late in their lives.

Watched the Auburn- Alabama game with a group (2-3 guys) connected with the Tiger program.

They all think Saban to Texas is very real. Once the game ended, they thought the timing now would make this a slam dunk inabout 2 weeks.
