Chip Brown just posted (not good)

Hey Brother, no disrespect taken. Me , Mike and Aaron were talking the other night and one thing we mentioned that amasses us is how, far apart two different dialed in factions are?
That is because the final call rests in the minds of two men who are deep into their 80s with a very different point of view because of their age and deep personal relationships with Mack. No way Mack is gone if they both do not sign off. If Mack beats Baylor, their call is easy. Mack stays. If he loses to Baylor, they may still believe he deserves another shot because of all the injuries this year and the absence of a better alternative. If Saban says yes behind the scenes, their call is more difficult but they will probably stick with Mack, especially if he beats Baylor.

The dynamic has changed between 1-2 and 8-3, possibly 10-3. They are looking for any excuse to keep Mack around.

The one factor that isn't talked about much is does Mack even want to come back next year. This is a guy who had one foot out the door as far back as 2008 when Muschamp was named the HCIW. What difference does it make if Jamail and McComb want him back if he doesn't want to come back? I have no inside information, but Mack just seems like a coach that is ready to walk away. The tone in his PC's have been different for several weeks than at any time in the last couple of years. All that said, I don't think it matters. I think he's gone whether he wants to come back or not. As for the comments from Mack telling recruits he plans to be back in 2014, of course that's what he is going to tell them. I don't understand why anyone would expect Mack to say anything differently.

You may have some connections saying that and thats cool - but there are also some respected people with connections who are saying the opposite of that....as in Mack is gone either way beat Baylor or not.

they are also saying (even today) McCombs is working with the push for Saban with Bob Rowling. I find it hard to believe that could be true, but McCombs would push all that aside just because Texas beat Baylor.

I think things are way too far down the tracks with Saban, and the whole coaching situation in general where this large faction (who is reported to be in lock step with pushing change and was involved in hiring Patterson) would do an about face over the outcome of one game

McCombs would probably like to see another NC in his lifetime and it ain't gonna happen w/ MB.

I can't imagine that Patterson wants to spend his first football season staring at a mass of empty seats in DKR. Because if Mack is back in 2014 then that is what he will be facing.

He was told that there will be NO announcement today.. Also Mack Brown has informed recruits he plans/will be back in 2014.. Buckle up boys the old man is coming back
If I were only a 'told you so' kind of guy?

How could you do that? You said NO ONE has any sources.. So I guess you believe Chip but no one else.. Also Chip did not say there was never going to be an announcement just not today.. I still trust who told me there will be one..

My faith in the athletic department has taken a hit following subpar athletic performances and indiscretions within the department the last 2-3 years. Blind loyalty is expected by the powers to be, but a return of Mack Brown in 2014, might stun this group in terms of a significant decline in donations and attendance.

I'm starting to believe that the BMDs appear to be shouting from the mountain top how uninformed and stupid they believe this fanbase is and how accepting they might be to whatever decisions are made. As crippling as keeping an aging player with a high salary on your professional team because of accomplishments in the past is, BMDs who have lost touch with reality may take years to recover from if allowed.

Steve Patterson needs to provide stern leadership in this situation.
