Mack was given the parade or pine box option a few weeks ago. He will step down when it best suits UT's interest. I dont buy for a second he will finally sit down with Patterson after the season and discuss the future...as if that hasn't already happened or would be the first time

Chip's being used to spread vapor IMO as that response has been out there from Mack for awhile (Sitting down with Patterson after the season). He was quoted saying that himself a week or two ago.

What else would Mack Brown be telling recruits at this point. He has no other choice than to tell them that he will be our coach in 2014. If he were to tell any recruit that he would not be back or that he is retiring, then he would essentially be announcing his resignation.

At this point you WANT Mack telling recruits that. He cant say anything else at this point. it sucks for them, but the fact Chip is using that for evidence is kinda funny. Of course Mack is not telling recruits he doesn't plan to be back. That would be a bombshell that said recruit certainly lets spill

As I said in the other thread, Mack said a week ago that he was sitting down with Patterson AFTER the season. How would Chip Brown or anyone think he would distract the team with an announcement the week of playing for at least a share of the conference title? No way would he do that.

This is silly imo. Of course Mack will tell recruits that. What would he say: "nah, I'm not coming back" or "I'm not sure, still deciding."

he said the ones he's talked too lately havent mentioned anything about Mack's future. maybe its different people saying different things. not sure. I still wouldnt expect Mack to answer the question any differently. He cant tell them he isnt coming back or no comment

I prob shouldnt be surprised, but guess am surprised Chip would just so easily trot out the company line as a report on this. Even Ketch has actually been saying he does not believe Mack will be at UT next season
