Chip just said that the ONLY one who has say on Mack returning or not returning is Bill Powers. Also If Texas beats Baylor Mack may very well be back... Dear lord way too much smoke about Mack returning in 2014...

You dont hire a new AD and push Deloss out before he was quite ready to retire so Mack can come back. Bellmont Chip has been wrong so many times I will believe Mack is back when I see it.

I dont think Texas will beat Baylor, but dont think this decision is being made on one game.

I think people are putting out a narrative this is Mack's choice and that he wont be pushed out so when he steps down he goes out with people thinking he really just wanted to retire and Texas never tried to push him out

I personally don't see why Mack would even want to come back for one more year. There will be so many uncertainties for next season. Who will play QB, who will be the DC, will Major stick around. Add to all of this the constant pressure from the fan base and media it would make for a miserable time for Mack. I guess we need to just sit back let the final game of the regular season play out and go from there.

With all due respect to Chip, that's just naive.

the notion Mack comes back for one last lame duck year and also will need to likely hire multiple new staff members including a DC and OC (per some reports) just makes no sense. I mean not even one once of sense whatsoever. There are prob 20 coaches out there not even named Saban UT would be going much better with than bringing Mack back

That is where I stand. It would be one thing if everything was settled, but it appears that we may not have a QB ready for next year, as well as some potential staff turnover again. Even if it's not Saban Texas is better off making the change and being one year ahead on a recovery. One more year with Mack is another year the program goes backwards.

good grief. Bill Powers is the frickin' President. The AD works for the President. Of course the president has the final say.

Geezus H. Kryste, Henny Penny would have laryngitis after all the hysteria of the past two days.

I thought somethings stunk to high heavens...

I agree 1000%. After 16 years at Texas his future comes down to 1 game? That makes no sense at all. The issues that are taking hi out of his job is greater than 1 game, namely the direction the program is heading.

Actually I think it looks like JJ has final say or BM or Mack or Patterson.... that's my point.... who in the hell in charge?

I am not worried ...because I was told do not worry, so Saban is coming and Mack will retire. There you go OK!

A contingent of BMDs who roll out some major donations on a regular basis are the motor to Powers' bus. If the motor don't run, the bus goes nowhere.
