Call me a sexist...

If you haven't played or lived the game you shouldn't broadcast it. Most women don't even know who has the darn ball half the time
Dude, half the people doing color that played the game shouldn't be allowed within a mile of a broadcast.

The next female football announcer I hear who is acceptable will be the first.

...but I just can't bear to listen to CFB play by play by a woman.  I have my TV tuned to the Temple-PSU game and Beth Mowins is doing play by play.  I'm gonna change to another game just because of the play by play.
I couldn't agree more about her. She's a big 10 announcer and she's awful. I too, change the channel every time I hear her, however not so much because she's a woman, but mainly because she's just bad overall. I do like the female sideline reporters. I think most of them do a great job!

As far as male announcers go, there are some really bad ones as well. Rod Gilmore has to take the cake!

When Verne Lundquist was younger, he was one of the best. He is to broadcasters as Willie Mays was to baseball as a Met. Even still, he's twice as good as his asshat partner.

moronic statement. most great announcers never played the game. not sure what 'lived' the game means.

Agree, Harrington is a clown. Irritating voice and juvenile commentary...wait, just like me on this message board. Harrington= Weak.

no idea who beth mowins is but i'd take her over this dipshit harrington doing the UT game.

I think that if you believe that particular female announcer is bad, it can be perceived as sexist because she is the only one. However, you could really not like how she calls a game and it has nothing to do with her gender, but rather you don't like her play calling ability. But because there are few women in the position of Play-by-play calling positions, it comes off to some as being sexist because she is really the first one to do it.

So what we need is more women to do play-by-play calling so we can get a good representative sample of who is good at the job and who isn't. If you believe that women shouldn't be calling football games, then that is clear cut sexism but if you don't like a particular one, it might not be sexist but it could be perceived as sexist because of the lack of female announcers.

So I advocate for more female announcers!
