Call me a sexist...

...but I just can't bear to listen to CFB play by play by a woman.  I have my TV tuned to the Temple-PSU game and Beth Mowins is doing play by play.  I'm gonna change to another game just because of the play by play.

Most of us grew up as kids with college football being part of the male bonding experience first shared with our dads and then in college with our buddies. Women were always welcome, but few of us had many male bonding moments with our moms, so having a woman in the booth calling a game seems a bit out of place. I'm sure there will be a female in the booth who has the voice, attitude, knowledge and temperament to pull it off. The ones they have calling the games now aren't her, though. It almost seems as if legal at the network sent out a memo that they need at least one female announcer and they stick her in the least important game. It isn't a positive to know your team got the female announcer.

I think the women sideline reporters do a great job...I prefer them to the men who do it sometimes. But, like Duke said, it's a past time and we're used to listening to men. That said, it's hard to get any worse than the CBS color crew with guys like Vern Lundquist, etc. If those guys can hold on to a job, surely there's a woman or two who can compete with what's out there.

I would take her over Vern Lundquist any day of the week. He is the worst in the biz.

I'll double down and call you a sexist pig. . . . .

I have no issue with a woman broad casting if she's any good. .agree, this lady's voice is irritating. . .

But then I've never understood why they have mindless ex-jocks (Matt Millin leaps to mind) instead of some the radio guys like Craig Way who actually knows what he's talking about. . .

Most of these women work incredibly hard at their craft through research and preparation. However an irritating voice will quickly negate all that hard work. Truth is, even many guys go to voice coaches to tweak their on air presentation. Very few just show up and start to yap.

There is a some sort of secret sorority within the sideline babes. On many occasion I would watch them jump on their cell phones right after we wrapped and call their girlfriends to discuss the job they just did. I once took Rachel Flannigan to the airport after a game and she talked to at least five of her friends, all girls, that had worked a game or some sporting event that day.

So for me, a really, and I mean REALLY knowledgeable woman with a pleasant yet sexy voice can only add to the broadcast.

Sexy British accent?

Oh my.....

Problem is I bet there isn't a Englishwoman alive, with a sexy accent that knows squat about OUR football.

An Aussie accent blows away a British accent.  When you stand in line at Whole Foods checkout with Nicole Kidman, you'll realize this.

I hate to admit this but I had earlier told my wife exactly what Castelbravo1 stated. I too changed the station.  I don't know if its because of her being a female doing what I perceive to be a male's role but I am certain her voice is irritating.  If this makes me sexist, so be it.  I'm too damn old to be politically correct.

Women have no place in broadcasting football.
Lol. Just like most of us once believed there would never be a woman who could ever put us in our place, eventually there will be a woman who will do an incredible job of doing play by play for college football. And understanding what she had to go through to earn our respect, we will respect her. The only question is who in the industry will be man enough to give her her opportunity.

If you haven't played or lived the game you shouldn't broadcast it. Most women don't even know who has the darn ball half the time.

moronic statement. most great announcers never played the game. not sure what 'lived' the game means.

no idea who beth mowins is but i'd take her over this dipshit harrington doing the UT game.
