Brandon Jones Injury Update

Chip Brown moving to college station or the Bar on the corner that knows him well !!! If he did this in the 1700's he would be Hung !

Excellent news!  Thanks Daniel for posting this.  Feel a lot better with him back there.  Locke/Hall will be serviceable at Elliott's spot.  Would be nicer if Malik was playing.

We don't get good news often here, lol, so thanks!

Good news for Texas. Jones and Locke at Safety could be a preview of what to expect next season.
Good news?

Well lets hope these 2 are better next year than they have been this year.  Both of these guys have not looked good at all this year.

A. Davis was better than Locke

I normally agree with you DMAC, but I thought Jones did well this year in run support.  Do I think he could've done better, hell yes.  However, I thought he was equal to Deshon Elliott's sophomore campaign.  Last year I thought Elliott was inconsistent, but showed flashes.  I had the same thoughts about Jones this year.  I think it all comes together next year for the young man.

I agree about Locke though.  I thought he took a step backwards this year.  Hopefully the light comes on next year.

Unfortunately playing safety requires more than run support.  He was the goat most of the season in busted coverages.  ou's go ahead TD to their TE in the closing minutes is the obvious one that comes to mind.  He also had hands of stone, two easy picks dropped that I can recall.  Multiple times he looked nonathletic.  One, I cant recall the game, the WR ran right by him and made Jones stumble and nearly fall down.  That one comes to mind because @Daniel Seahorn posted in a game thread the very thought I was thinking when I saw it.  Something to do with "nonathletic".   Not to mention Jones a was weekly visitor to Ryans film reviews and not in a good way.  I do recall one or two games he did extremely well but 2 out of 12 does not make a good year.

He is young, so he has a chance to grow but that said he was one of the weak links in our secondary and not even close to average in comparison to other safeties.  He was a 5 star but I couldnt tell, he has much to learn between the ears.  So you may be right about next year.  I hope so because his play this year was uninspiring.

If I had to rate our secondary from best to last

Hill - Elliott - A Davis(sub) - Boyd (He might have been the worst games 1-6) - Jones - Locke

As I wrote Locke's name, something odd comes to mind.   Why are there 2 defensive captains that did so poorly this year?  Hughes and Locke.
