Big 12 expansion: Who do you want?

I like FSU for sure and pretty open to anyone else. Who does everyone want in the Big 12?

If it's only two, I want FSU and Louisville.

But, word is FSU wants travel buddies so maybe we go for Clemson and/or GaTech. Big 14? We've got the copyright!

Good question! Let me start by giving the preface that i feel is true, let me know if i am wrong.

Sec wants to expand to 16 teams bc 14 sucks. They want 2 Acc teams (VT + 1). Sec did not want to be the bad boy and break up the Acc and wanted Big 12 to take Fsu first and break up Acc. Now, Big 1o has done it by taking Maryland. This opens the door for Sec to take VT+1 and Big 12 to take Fsu.

1)Fsu

2)Lousiville

I feel those are the 2 most likely. If Big 12 expands(DELOSS), it will to 12(2 teams) or 16(6 teams) teams, not 14. so after Fsu/Lu

3)ND, obvious

4)GT, great city for travel, very good school, good partners.

5)UVA, see above but a bit harder for travel.

6)Clemson, good football program.

We know FSU is choice #1 and I believe the Big 12 wants Louisville as #2. I still cannot believe Maryland is pulling the trigger at the exit fee of $50 mil. LIke JB said though the FSU --- Clemson connection was VERY strong earlier this summer and it probably still is. Word has it that tandem's move to the Big 12 was all but done.... then came that exit fee increase and Notre Dame's moving of all sports but football and hockey to the ACC.....

If we are going to stay at 12 then my preference would be the 'Noles and Notre Dame. Assuming Notre Dame remains indy in football I would take FSU and Clemson purely because of the football.

no one so far has payed the full amount and i doubt anyone exiting Acc will have to either. maybe $25-$30 million. Maryland is in dept but im sure can get enough alumni donations to get $30 mill bc they will make up over $25mill/year from Big 10 tv deals(that by the way renew in 2017).

Fla St but why would they come to the Big XII? SEC makes more sense..Louisville is a yawner. This is the problem with bringing in WVU, now there is some kind of need to give them a buddy. Clemson makes some sense and Ga Tech..Both would help the academic standing of the conference.

The Noles had one foot out the door already. They want the Big 12 - BELIEVE IT! I think the Louisville potential move worries some within the ranks at UT because of academics....

Fsu will be blocked by UF and Clemson will be blocked by South Car. Sec and VT have been playing footsies and probably have an under the table agreement or at least talks, "IF something happens lets get together" type of a deal. What is left, UNC!

The goal is all about TV potential views, so u dont want teams from same state.

I think GT makes sense bc of academics and location and partnership with Fsu.

SEC vs B1G will battle for UNC.

Big 12 vs B1G will battle for GT(maybe)

Clemson will want to come to Big12 12 bc they cant go to Sec and B1G doesnt want them.

We need to keep in mind this is at least a 5 year ordeal before it shakes out. I am hoping Notre Dame changes its tune about football and joining a conference but I won't hold my breath.

Those guys we interviewed from NDNation.com were spot on how the Irish would play out. A Notre Dame Perspective on the Realignment Discussion

good point bbdude,

only way you can see ND joining a conf is if there are 4 superconferences and the winner of the 4 conf go to a 4 team playoff.

YEah, the only way Notre Dame would be forced to join a conference is if the 4x16 mocdel shook out. And even then I'm not certain that they couldn't work a deal out to remain independent and still be a player in the thick of the playoffs....

Rutgers & Maryland appear to have one leg in the Big 12. Move may be imminent. Thoughts?

Florida State or bust.

We can get a fill in like Mizzou to the SEC. (Yeah that's what they were).

But Florida State is getting NO respect in the polls and Bowlsby said he wanted to survey the changing landscape. The time is now.

We don't need to go to 14 but that might make a Big 12 network for valuable if they go 14. Which if it's ESPN, they can have some Big 12 programming on LHN and vice versa.

Of course FSU to the SEC makes the most sense, but it won't happen because Florida, Auburn and Bama will NEVER vote for that. Why would they give up a perceived recruiting advantage to a big time rival? Adding FSU also doesn't expand the SEC's TV footprint for more media revenue.

2 more wins in football every year if so....

Not a big fan of the 2 schools from a football perspective but it gets us closer to the 16 team model that we know will happen.

They may also opt for Big 10 which some are reporting. Whatever happens the expansion talk is about to get ramped up for sure,

BTW I am mnoving this thread to the Realignment Forum......
