I am tired of all the we suck and coaching talk so lets get after it. Which places do you like?

Mine:

Amaya taco village

El Patio

Taylor: El Corral Lozano

Hutto: Rio Grande (And thats not saying much)

Round Rock: Masfajitas

Georgetown: El Monumento (1A - Dos Salsas)

Elgin: Jaliscos (Again, not saying much)

Bastrop: Guadalajaras

Lockhart/Caldwell County: Guadalajaras

I have to got to Magnolia Cafe every time I'm in Austin - Trudy's too.

Things have changed a lot since my days at UT, where I lived off Gumby's Pizza. I did eat at Sandra Bullock's restaurant Bess Bistro after a day at the capitol and had this bad-boy:

[h=3]*CROQUE MONSIEUR[/h]shaved Applewood-smoked ham, toasted mustard aioli and Mornay, served with open-faced on pan levain with truffle and parmesan pommes frites (added a Coyote Farms over-easy egg on it too)

Dario's for breakfast.

Get the combo that has: migas, carne guisada, chorizo, beans, potatoes all served with homemade tortillas

Eat it all and then you're going to immediately need a bed for napping and a toilet for...well, you know.

Bbdude ... Magnolia Cafe. Trudy's, and Bess Bistro are great and all, but those are NOT Mexican restaurants.

Central Mexican Fine Food Restaurant  responsible with Diana Kennedy, doyen of Mexican food in the US, for the rise of popularity of Mexican food north of the border - San Miguel.

Central Mex, not Tex Mex BREAKFAST!!!  Sometimes a bit too crowded but great for people watching, great house coffee that you can buy for your HOUSE, special lamb dishes around Easter time - Curra's Grill.  MUNCH!!!

Chicken caldo that looks like the picture you get when you google "Homemade Mexican Caldo de Pollo",  plus you get those great made in house tortillas, corn or flour! - Casa Garcia's  Mexican Restaurant & Cantina.

I hope it is not too late, y espero que podamos salvar tu alma!  ;)

Casa Garcias on William Cannon.  Flour tortillas are the best I have ever had.

Nice to meet somebody with some good taste.  We used to go to the Garcia's on South Lamar, but it is now a construction site.  We go to the William Cannon location most every Saturday sometime between 11:00AM to 2:00PM depending on when we finally decide to get out of bed.  Every Saturday, I say to my wife, "Wife!  Would you like to go someplace else?"  She says, "Garcia's is fine with me!  As long as they make me strong coffee!" and there you go. She likes the fact that when they see her coming, they put on a double strength pot of coffee for her.  It is not as good as Curra's coffee, but it will do in a pinch.  I usually have the small caldo de pollo and one pork tamale with chile, chopped onions and no cheese.  My wife usually has two grilled pork chops with grilled veggies and sliced avocado on the side.  I must admit that I eat so many chips with salsa that I do not often partake of the wonderful fresh tortillas.  "Sacrilego!" is the word that I often hear whispered behind my back.  The only complaint that I have is that they do not have posole on a regular basis.  They have it for a week or two in the spring, and all I have to say is, "Sacrilego"!  ;)
