2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

Mom fell for the Jimbo used car salesman act I guess.  What a joke.  Aggy is doing exactly what they always say about Texas:  bringing in high rated classes year after year and getting mediocre results (or in last years case, a losing record).
Exactly

I don't really care what Aggies did to get him I am more concerned about what we did not do to get him.  Unless the coaching staff feels strongly that they can flip him in December.

If you look at what our roster could look like next year, QB, DL and WR are all positions that may be depleted. They are strengths this year, but question marks next year. I think the staff may look to backfill several positions via the portal. DL is interesting because high profile DLs don't portal very often. We definitely need some veteran presence here.

Interested to see what the staff does. We know they don't give up on their guys, but maybe once seasons are completed, guys will flip (Wardell Mack). If aggy does aggy things again, McKinley may be open to a flip.

We need them to crap the bed again

Things are so fluid now in college football with flips and transfers galore.  I am impressed with the talent that Sark and the staff has been able to procure since coming to Texas.  I am hopeful if and when we have a very good season like 10-2, 11-1, or dare I say 12-0 it will remove the doubts that certain recruits might have about coming to Texas and make them want to get on board.  I do believe that winning and development are the two greatest keys for being able to get the elite talent.  With us heading to the SEC next year that becomes more important now than ever.

This staff has proven to me they will get the players they need and they can close when needed.  I'm also convinced that McKinley, while a wanted recruit, was not a top priority target at this time for this staff.  Maybe he will end up being that, but I just never caught on with this one.

Also, Aggy decommit season is right around the corner so there will be a fire sale soon.  Then aggy transfer season opens up.

No call out to Baker?

While all of these guys are important, the two most important ones in my book are Baker and McKinley.  Heading into the SEC next year, Texas top quality lineman to compete day in and day out.  Having Wingo, Black, Hudson and Bussey is great, get those other two is a must.
I agree with you bout Baker & McKinley being most important. I don't agree that staff didn't prioritize  McKinley, I think they just couldn't recruit him  can't win em all.

I have noticed when we think recruit is leaning to us,they are a must. When that recruit wanes, tends to be negative. Kinda reminds me how aggy didn't get recruit they wasn't SEC good.

Aggy may never win but they have figured out how to recruit 5 star DL.... They are out recruiting everyone at that position.
He'll still be there if we want him, later, when aggy doesn't have the season they wanted and they finally fire Jimbo.

I don't think that is quite the case for all.  I personally thought DM was a must get, but MBHORNS stated Robinson was the #1 DT on the staffs board.  So, maybe they know something about him none of us do.  I think they wanted him, but it seems as though they, at least it was apparent to me, didn't go all out for him.  That is just me looking from way outside.

Last year, A. Hill was a must get and they lost him early, but they reeled him back in later.  Aggy will crap the bed again this year.  Jimbo will get exposed yet again and 🎢 will continue.

That hasn't been my experience here. I will say that my pet peeve is when someone says that another team paid and that's why they got the commit. Hell it's legal now and we're supposed to be the Joneses. Let's go get them. No excuses! If other teams are outbidding us, then good on them. Pay up or shut up.
