2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

My biggest concern is they were both in Baton Rouge last weekend and will announce on the same day.
Gerry Hamilton says this is unrelated, we'll see. I have only subscribed to IT for 7 months so this will help me decide how good he is.

- August 10th is supposed to be Duncanville's media day, so it's a nice spotlight for both players to commit before the season starts.

- Johnson-Rubell and Gipson are closer than these guys, and we saw how that worked out.

- Recruits like Simmons know how the game is played, and this will make it appear as if he and Durham are going to LSU together.

This is fun.
FUN??? THIS IS TORTURE!!

Well recruiting has slowed down. Have practice reports to help keep up interest.

To me recruiting is not as good as usual for Texas HS's. Commitments arenot ashighly rated as in the past. Yeah I know Sark is notdone. and lots of time lefttill December.

Spiegelman at On3 says there is a lot of Texas buzz depending on who you talk to, and LSU has more optimism after McKinley's visit last weekend.

Overall, he feels Texas is in a good spot.

I think it is time to leave the in state recruiting mindset behind. This coaching staff certainly doesn't approach things that way. They will of course continue to do more locally but ultimately they will push for the players they want most regardless of state.

And in-state recruits are not staying in state like they did back in the day. They've been going to Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson and Oregon for a while now. And, of course, they've always been going to Oklahoma and LSU.

Absolutely, the Mack Brown strategy is a thing of the past and likely wouldn't work today anyway based on how the recruiting game has evolved.

When a handful of your top targets are five-stars from out-of-state, you're not going to have your class wrapped up by August.

I prefer Sark's strategy for many reasons.

247 had a few bullets on CB Kobe Black...

- last Friday's trip to Austin went great since he was the only visitor on campus, and he spent time with Jelani McDonald.

- Black says he's in contact with the Texas staff daily and he's comfortable picking the Longhorns if that's the way things work out.

- he's likely cancelling his future official visits to Alabama and LSU.

- his decision timeline is up in the air even though the Waco Connally staff would prefer he commits before the season.

- he mentioned he's likely to attend at least one Texas game in the fall.

I would be comfortable picking the Longhorns if that is the way it works out. Translation if they offer the most money.

On the OOS players vs in state. DKR, Akersand Mack won with them. And still posible today.

Show me a OOSer that has commitedto Horns where there is not a higher or equal in state player. Sure they aregoing out of state somealways have. Show alittlemoreinterest and somemight stayhome in otherwordsmore money.

Year in and year outTexas produces the most H S players. Florida had more one year due to the schools thatrecruit from other states.

The bottom line is winning for a 11-1 season would not care if no Texans were on team. But sofor not even  lose to this in winning.
