is anyone getting any buzz about whether or not Quin E is being well received by the locker room? I know this is waaaayyyyy early for any workout reports, but surely somebody somewhere if hearing whether he is perceived as a hard worker , or an entitled jerk. I mean, if he just walks out there with his George Hamilton tan and throws the ball 100 yds and goes back to the locker room, this aint gonna work. However, if the other guys see someone willing to work his tail off to help them win, then we have somebody special.

somebody    knows   something!....Please dont tear our thirsty lips from the fountain of information....

TFB has recently mentioned that their sources say he's already becoming a leader in workouts. You can't do that without working hard. That gets you respect and acceptance.

He's a heckuva back and normally, I'd love to have him. But our RB room is stacked with talent right now.

I've heard that, at first, things were kind of tense. He wouldn't let anyone ride around campus and/or to practice in his Porsche and some players  turned on him as a result. He has since stop being a hard-ass about it and players are slowing coming around to him. Definitely a good move on his part to lightnen up a little bit and try harder to just be one of the guys.

I think it was on The Flagship Podcast (247 sports, Chip Brown and Taylor Estes) that they mentioned that have heard he has been working very hard in winter workouts and has earned respect because of that. Just a small nugget.

I took his comments to mean that there is a way to create 3 more spots but we aren't going to take a depth piece. We need a big time player to do it.
Sark was definitely adamant about using the spots available for players they thought were relevant.

So first 33 then 36 and now 35. Does anyonereally know.

Sounds like a pay site drumming up money.

You know it’s kinda interesting how teams are approaching this new college football dynamics.  Lane Kiffin mentioned how much A&M and Texas are paying and how most teams can’t do that.  Ole Miss has really hit the portal hard.  The teams that can pay will be recruiting well and trickling portal guys in.  Teams that can’t pay will be heavier on the portal.  Last I looked there were over 3200 kids in the portal……more now because that was a couple of days ago.  Having said all that……something is going to have to change are this will ruin college football.  I don’t know what it needs to be but there are going to have to be some rules are the playing field will continue to become unlevel.  For now I guess just be happy that I root for a team that can pay.

Can't transfers through the portal make similar deals and get money through sponsorships, etc.?

We'll we don't know how many players Sark is going to give the boot to. Going to be Intresting.
True enough but booting players does not create spaces for this years class

Next years class is stuck on 25, unless the +7 is extended.

I'd really stop worrying about the numbers. It is a futile exercise. Biggest issue being that there is no way to verify which players are on scholarship or not. Incoming guys could be grey shirted or blue shirted. Walk-ons can earn scholarships, and maybe these scholarships are only granted for the one year because there was an extra laying around. Challenge is, the writers don't have any type of database to check into and it seems none of them have inside sources spilling the beans on these details. I think we can expect to have a reasonable idea of a number but expect it to flex and change by 1 or 2 periodically for reasons we will likely never truly understand.

And there will be many players who make that leap only to find they have no place to land. So they end up at a Sam Houston.

It would need to be a special kind of walk-on for me to give up a scholarship. We don't currently have that on UT's campus that I know of.

Based on what I read on OB, this is correct. Looking at their scholarship board, Texas is now sitting on 89 players and that number must be down to no more than 85 by August.

Safe to say that Brock earned his from last year. No doubt they will reward that effort and keep him on scholarship.

Also, post above didn't mention academic scholarships. Though its much more prevalent in baseball, you'll see a couple smart guys a year take an academic full ride to free up a schollie elsewhere.
