2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

I was looking at the latter part of my statement.  That’s on me. Point taken and I will relent on that.

With that said I still stand by my comment that started this exchange and with what I provided to you after. You don’t have to buy what I’m selling, but it is what it is.
OK fair enough on that last exchange. But I still stand on what I said.

Did Herman tell you he knew he had no shot at the out-of-state linebackers but was going to take it anyway?

Did Herman tell you that he knew White was in the bag no matter how long he waited to offer?

If the answer to those questions is no then you are making an assumption. It's your opinion and I'm fine with that. I just object to you or anyone calling it arrogance. But I'm going to let it go.

You don’t need to speak directly with a head coach to source info in this business. If you are able to have that source then you are blessed, but more times than none that isn’t happening.

We are all thankful you're letting it go.

Anyways... I’m moving forward because this thread has been derailed far enough on this exchange.   I apologize for getting a little riled up up in this instance, but I can get a tad prickly in some cases. Back to business as usual.

Lol can we all agree though Texas has done pretty well despite of all the odds against them hauling in one of the best DBs group ever?.and to top it all off 2 might I add 2 QUARTERBACKS signed in this class.  We have had issues enough getting at least ONE signed.. But 2!!..That is saying something.

Texas extends an offer to Texas A&M Commit Tyree Wilson.

Rumblings are that aggy would like to get Ossai and let this kid find his own way. I think thats crazy. This kid has tons of upside, never really been coached.

So, who does Texas look at now for LB? I assume they'll still recruit White.
I'd look at Newton's Corbin Foster. 4.0 GPA, aims to be a doctor, 1st Team All-State, Defensive MVP of state title game (that Newton won), and was a state leader in tackles at 240.

He may be 3A, but I'd still look at him. 6' 220, is patient, does not overrun pursuit, has good angles, and can wrap up.

I know Newton is not a top school academically. My sister (a retired teacher there) knows his parents and talks about his solid family background and unified effort in his life as both student and athlete. The kid is grounded.

I would not like to see him end up at Baylor or A&M. If he can handle the academics, I'd sure give him a look.

There's several players UT should look at on that Newton team.

Going to have to see how they recalibrate at this point. This late in the cycle options are looking grim and I’m not sure there was a contingency plan in place.
Agree. Its really too late to jump in on somebody new and with no previous relationship.

You might kick the tires on some others you've recruited, just to see if they're still happy with their decision. But there won't be many of those around after NSD-1.

IMO, at this point you focus on your remaining targets, regardless of position. I'm not sure we lead for anybody right now and that needs to change if we're to fill this class.

Agreed. They may just decide to allocate the scholarship elsewhere and see about the crop next year at this point.
