2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Some of you guys crack me up.  Believing we would have White in the bag now if we had just offered him earlier is ridiculous. It might've happened or it might not have happened. Aggy offered him early and what did that get them?

He might have committed and he might not. He might have committed and then decommitted. And to call a lack of early offer arrogance is ridiculous. They had a reason. Maybe they were wrong but what makes you think it was arrogance? I think pretending you know what happened during his commitment might be more arrogant.
Before I respond I would like to know who this is directed at.

It's directed at anyone who has used the word arrogance. That includes you I believe. Unless you can explain to me more than the lack of an early offer. That may be a mis-evaluation but is not arrogance. If you've got more let's hear it.

Who cares what you call it. Bottom line we lost this one. Aren't going to win them all. Grade the staff on the class they pull in. So far looks great.

Ok well here’s my response since you think they are above criticism here.

He would have committed had they offered in the summer when he came up and willingly camped with them despite him really not needing to. This isn’t guessing either.

He’s a kid who even through all the coaching change turmoil at A&M almost stuck with his commitment because his word is important to him. Again not guessing here.

As ive said before the staff opted to chase OOS targets they didn’t have a shot at rather than offering in the summer when the kid tripped on his own dime to visit and workout for the coaches. When a staff wants to know how long they can wait without offering and still have a shot because they think the kid was a shoe-in to commit to them regardless... yeah I call that arrogance. They took the kid for granted and  now he’s going to their conference rival.

I’ve praised this staff plenty since they’ve arrived on campus on their recruiting efforts, but they are not above criticisms and this is one of those instances.

Also, in this line of business we can’t always share or write what we know in regards to kids and everything else, but this is one time I don’t mind expanding due to your comment.

Did they tell you they were waiting because they knew they could get him anytime they wanted? If not then you have no argument. You just have your opinion. And that's all I have.

Daniel you are also being very presumptive to state that I think they are above criticism.

All I said was that they weren’t above it. Whether you think they are or aren’t is an entirely different subject. I didn’t say you thought they were.

The above quote is the first sentence in your response to me. Maybe you had better reread it.

I was looking at the latter part of my statement.  That’s on me. Point taken and I will relent on that.

With that said I still stand by my comment that started this exchange and with what I provided to you after. You don’t have to buy what I’m selling, but it is what it is.
