2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

I agree Daniel. Staff really shot themselves in the foot for this one
Don’t get me wrong this staff has recruited very well this cycle, but they got caught with their pants down at spots like inside linebacker and slot receiver. I hope defensive line doesn’t end up in that category, but at least they are turning over every rock trying to address it.

They offered a number of kids at ILB this cycle, but majority of them were OOS kids due to it being a down year in state. I wish they would have pressed harder on a kid like Xavier Peters if they were going to proceed as they did. He ended up at Kentucky and I loved his tape.

They aren’t going to show signs of being worried, but they know what they got at LB going into next year and know they are going to have to plug holes sooner rather than later.
Only thing I saw from Peters was the UA game and he looked good there.

But I can't remember any other ILBs getting to campus, but I could be wrong. We'll see how everything plays out, 2019 LB recruiting will be important. If the lightning package continues to be our premier formation we only need 2 LBs, if you project Overshawn to make to move up we're taking 2 LB studs this year + a great upside kid in Hobbs. Both Overshawn and Ayodele are most likely immediate impact guys, making this not that bad of a haul.

For the rest of this cycle, DL is by far the bigger need on D, but I think we'll end up just fine there.

Do you know how many LBs they were trying to take this cycle? I lost count

Problem with 2019 is only 1 LB listed in-state for top 10 and that's Brooks.  We will have to look OOS or get an immediate impact JUCO guy.  If another Gary Johnson is around I say go for it.

Its over.

I sure hope White enjoys four years of RRR losses.  I will take our secondary vs Kyler Murray or any other QB for that matter.

Daniel already pointed out the issue though, Herman and staff got too arrogant and should have offered him sooner.

Our dline is going to look like all Americans with the secondary that we will be rolling out. Foster and sterns has to be the most lethal safety package there is.

I cant wait!

Some of you guys crack me up.  Believing we would have White in the bag now if we had just offered him earlier is ridiculous. It might've happened or it might not have happened. Aggy offered him early and what did that get them?

He might have committed and he might not. He might have committed and then decommitted. And to call a lack of early offer arrogance is ridiculous. They had a reason. Maybe they were wrong but what makes you think it was arrogance? I think pretending you know what happened during his commitment might be more arrogant.

I've seen several vague comments in thread to the effect that the staff got arrogant with the recruitment of Deshaun White.  As Bear19 commented, I'm not understanding what you are saying.

Can someone please elaborate and be more specific?

Seems to me they are saying because White didn't get the offer on his timetable our coaches were arrogant.

Maybe or maybe not they miss evaluated him. But to call it arrogance is arrogance itself.

Use whatever word seems appropriate to you, but bottom line, White should be a horn right now.
