2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

One thing I have observed, following recruiting since the 80’s is that when Texas is rolling, it is hard for other programs in this region to compete on the recruiting trail.  Coaches know this - so Texas receives a lion’s share of negative recruiting.  I remember Van Malone saying “every coach wanted to talk about Texas, so I decided to go there,” or words to that effect.

My point is… Longhorn coaches have a lot of advantages that other coaches don’t have… however, negative publicity is one disadvantage they must overcome.

One thing said that is very true… Is that this article could be written about  any football program in America. All you need to do this go and find a handful of non-starters… And you will get negative vibes about the head coach.   But at Texas, it actually gets published and becomes something you must overcome.

If Herman isn’t up to this task, then he’s not the right man. I think he is.

Thats what I meant, man.  Maybe I wasn't clear.

Bias seemed to insinuate some hidden agenda to hurt Texas.  Like he secretly tried to help ou or something.  Which I doubt although the timing of the hit pieces seem like it.  Just wanted clarification, thats all.

As for sunshine pumping and burnt orange glasses, etc.  I think we are all in the same boat at the end of the day.  We all want our Horns to succeed in the end.  Some are just more patient than others.  As of now I still trust Herman will get the program where it should be.  May have to wait another 2-3 years though.

I watched the 2006 USC v Texas game on LHN last night.  Our team was stacked top to bottom.  I mean hell we had VY, Charles, Great OL, Griffin, Ross, Huff...We have a long way to go to get back to that point the new DB class was a great start.
Well said, DMAC.

I probably didnt read it correcrly.  I think we're on the same page here.

With everything that has happened recently in the news and within the news, the reputation of reporters is now the same or maybe even below the used car salesperson and/or lawyer. I guess that now even covers sports writers.

Don't we only have Nelson and Wilburn at NT next year (assuming Christmas bolts or never develops)? I don't see why people think we're ok for now. Seems we aren't in full panic mode looking for JC options.

Haha @Sirhornsalot I tried warning you all to staff off that page. Nothing but negative nancies on there. Besides the moderator, he seems to be a straight shooter.  Wish I would have stayed though now, sounds like it’s getting good over there lol

Right now the 2018 NT options would be: Nelson, Wilbon and Christmas. Graham also has the ability to play some snaps at NT. Coburn is a guy that could come in and play right away. The hope is to also take 1 additional interior guy in addition to Coburn. As long as Coburn is in the fold, I do not think they will be in panic mode.

Boys and girls it’s time for Tom Herman to run a team out there that is ready and the most physical and come away with the win..........like he did at Houston......ie Florida St, ie Oklahoma, ie Louisville games. Do that and then finish a great recruiting class and go into the offseason trending up. The time is now.

Ooooooooooooooo- Hook’em Horns

He tagged you and me with a post. He says,” trust me we see you.”  Definitely kinda weird

Trust me Winston Malveaux, there is no "we" and I don't give a damn how you choose to waste your time. Follow me all you want, I'll never give you the time of day.

That dude is a weird SOB... Every time I post something about him he always mentions you and tries to get me and you stirred up and fighting. Little does he know we may disagree on some things but one think we both agree on he is a weird freak of a dude... And we are not fighting each other over his ass...

I don't think you and I have even disagreed on anything in the last year. Time flies . . .

Weird, yes. And I don't care to know how weird. lol

Adding to the DL talk, Chisholm is a senior next year. I think he is an interior lineman and played some this year.  Probably not cream of the crop but a body on the roster.

Thats a great point Mike.  I was talking to my son about him earlier.  Don't really have an opinion of him, but could be serviceble.  Roach, Graham, Nelson, Wilbon, Omenihu, Fitzgerald, Cummins, Chisholm, and Hager is a good amount of bodies to man 3 spots.  Maybe Hager can man' the B-Backer, but I got a feeling J. McCullough has that spot locked down.

I am told we have another commit in the fold, but there will be no announcement until signing day II.

I was asked to not give out hints, but I'd go ahead say most would be surprised to know this kid will be a Horn.
