Probably Stanford news

Also, it seems that Stanford also has a legit shot with Texas commit Obi Eboh

Not sounding all that good at the moment

update - and now a CB of Eboh to Stanford.

Juan,

If we lose Obi does that affect our chances with Humphrey?

I dont think --

He definitely not going to Stanford

And Cal already has 4 WR commits (out of 23 total commits)

http://cal.247sports.com/Season/2016-Football/Commits

However, Cal also has a wide open depth chart at WR, a fun offense for WRs and the two schools are not that far apart

Plus he moved his visit up to the 22nd from the 29th (same weekend Eboh is supposed to visit Stanford)

Hey now, did I just talk myself out of my original position? Maybe so ....

TE Irvin Smith now also following Malik  (to add to LJH, Whaley, BLJ-M, Ehlinger, Wilbon, DeShon, Charles O......)

That's the good news -- the bad is that he retweeted something about how he is now getting interest from Alabama

Added an OV to the last weekend

CB/Ath Grayland Arnold of Kountze

http://247sports.com/Player/Grayland-Arnold-67493

His last two CBs were over the summer before he committed to Baylor, but Holland and Demetric Warren both said Texas

(Smells like a contingency for Eboh but we will see.  Also, he has a BU tattoo ...)

Higs says "Texas does not allow kids to simply use OV's to visit Texas."

"..... Texas offered Arnold in July and made a big effort to quickly reel him in, but Arnold opted to remain firm in his pledge with the Bears. Baylor was the first school to offer Arnold, and he's said in the past that means a lot to him. Arnold even got inked with a giant Baylor tattoo on his arm to show his loyalty to the school.

Arnold is rated as the No. 180 player nationally and the No. 18 overall cornerback, according to the 247Sports rankings."

OB thinks aggy will have a de-commitment by Monday

Hopefully Irv Smith or even JMad

I think he has OV's scheduled for Bama and Florida this month.

At the risk of causing coronaries on this board, I'm going to dump some stuff I picked up talking to a friend this morning. Can't dump it all because some of it is, well, going to cause tantrums if I repeat it.

Source is connected to the staff.

Feeling is very good about Brandon Jones, Stephon Taylor, Eric Cuffee and Jeffrey McCollough.

Staff feels good about Djax, but the thinking is he's FSU bound. Will still take him if he has a change of heart.

Safety out of a school in Alief, named Turner, has caught the eye of the staff. Don't be surprised to see him in this class. Another safety not named Jones is above him on the pecking order, but the ship is about to sail and Turner is moving to the crosshairs. They feel Turner is as good as the other, but they have put more time and effort into the other. So they wait. But not much longer.

Christmas-Giles is maybe 50-50.

There are a number of five star recruits who like Texas a lot and would like to come here. But won't. They point to the year left on Charlie's contract, with no extension, and see potential trouble. The number I was told was 4-5 kids. They really like Charlie. But they don't want to be here one year with him.

The next items are going to be quickies. I won't elaborate more on them so don't ask.

- consulting firm was hired prior to our AD hire. Goal was to help him in adjusting to new role. Scope expanded to cover other areas, including football program. Resulting report was not good. Biggest hang up seems to be organization and the handling of a large, large program.

- Contract was signed and issue thought to have gone away. It has not. We continue to cultivate a relationship, for just in case purposes. Not a sure thing if the call gets made. Other big names are also maintaining contact.

- Charlie really needs 8-9 wins next season. Think Walmart parking lot, Friday Night Lights movie.

- Dodds may be retired, but he hasn't stopped working. He was involved in getting the consulting firm. Other firms were also contracted, but were doing other things at UT not related to football.

- The aggy train wreck is even worse than anyone here has suggested it is. And I think I've seen just about everyone thoughts on this LOL. It's bad. Really bad. And it has really helped us on the recruiting trail.

My note-taking wasn't as fast as his talking, so I may have left something out here. I'll post that stuff as my memory allows. But I think I posted most all of it that I feel I can post.

Thanks for the info SHA. I really do think kids want to come here. If Strong has a great 2016 season I believe Texas can turn it around even more with recruiting.

I would have told them that for free if they had asked
