How did all of those high ranked recruiting classes work out on the field? Go down the list and see who actually played up to their star rankings. All of those recruiting rankings are for your entertainment. What the whole thing is really about is recruiting players who can actually play the game on the field. The last few classes that Mack got just did not pan out.

So I will call BS on you.
Where was I saying these guys have turned into good players or made a good team?  I just answered your clearly erroneous talking point that criticism of Mack Brown somehow ruined his recruiting efforts right away.  How is it the critics' fault that some of them turned out to be thugs who break jaws of other student-athletes in bar ambushings (Cayleb Jones), guys who allegedly sexually assault women in dorms (Sanders, Meander), guys who can't pass piss tests (Estelle, Harrison), guys who got injured (Ash, Greenlea), or guys who didn't pan out, whether by being overrated or poorly coached up over their first three years.

Your earlier premise that criticism of Mack Brown led to him not being able to bring in recruits is flat false, and instead of trying to change the subject, you should concede the point.  247sports wasn't alone in holding the 2011 and 2012 classes in such high regard.  Rivals had them 3rd and 2nd.  Scout had them 3rd and 1st.  They were good classes that turned out to include some bad characters and that were poorly coached.  You tell me how someone saying Mack Brown should be fired is responsible for any of that.

It isn't criticism of the coaches that has made Texas a bad team today.  It is the inability of coaches to evaluate talent and character before the recruits arrive, inability of coaches to develop the talent, and inability of coaches to meld it into units that perform on the field.  Some of that is on Mack Brown and his staff.  Some of that is now on Charlie Strong and his staff.  And yes, a lot, a very large lot of it is the youth of the team at present, and for that reason, I am willing to wait until the end of the year to judge the performance of the coach, and I think all of us should similarly wait to see if there has been progress.

Does an unhappy, carping fan base help?  No, but the harm it does is insignificant compared to the poor performances shown on the field over long periods of time.  On the list of things bothering a recruit, I also put tens of thousands of empty seats far ahead of hot criticism on message boards.  At least the second shows care and concern about the state of the program.  The former shows nothing but indifference.

Don't over-complicate this next hire for CFS.

Just hire one of TCU's co-OCs, Cumbie or Meacham. Either one can develop and execute a better game plan than we've been seeing. I'm really disappointed in Norvell. I thought we had turned a corner offensively against Cal. No such luck
Charlie Strong cannot be allowed to make another hire on the offensive side until and unless someone who understands college football vets his choice. Charlie Strong is a lot of things and sadly, incompent when it comes to hiring offensive coaches is one of them.

Mike Perrin needs to step in and be the de facto co-head coach for personnel until Charlie Strong grows the F@#K up and learns how to coach the offense of a major college football program. There is no more delicate way to put it.

UT football is a $100+ million business. It can't be left to someone who is fundamentally incompetent in any aspect.

I sadly agree with RD and this hurts to admit.
It hurts me to say what I say.

The only way Coach Strong survives is for the AD to step in and help him deal with his weaknesses. His most glaring weakness is an OC. Perrin needs to step in, help Strong with the right hire and make it seamless, as opposed to the Joe Wickline shitshow Jackass Patterson created.

We need the adults to step in and deal with the situation. Eventually Charlie Strong can grow into the head coach we want him to be, but he isn't, we need to deal with it and we need to start now. This "put him on an island and either fire him or not" shit is insane.

Perrin needs to be the voice of reason. Mike, where the hell are you? Step in, be the voice of reason, buy ever season ticket holder and every one of the Texas Exes a beer at the next sporting event they attend and be there to shake their hands.

i am sick of the crap we are dealing with. We are Texas. Its about time we started acting like it. Mike, make it happen.

I understand the frustration as I too am frustrated with the performance of this team and with Charlie.  It is very difficult to see other teams with just as many issues as our from youth to new coaches be winning or showing leaps in improvement and to see ours struggling so much.  Charlie understands that he needs to show that the team is heading upwards and that not only the team but the fans are excited by their progress.  Currently that is not the case, and so he needs to convince the fans and boosters that he does need more time and the reward will come. The fans and the boosters have to decide if they are willing to risk giving Charlie more time.  Keep in mind there is a risk as the program can go from a damaged ship to a sinking ship that may takes years to recover.  If Charlie does bring in a new OC will this buy him another 2 years as the team will need time to learn the system and of course we have to give them time to recruit the type of players they need for that system as the players they have are Norvelle's guys....!  With all that said I want Charlie to stay,  but he will have to work harder if not harder than he ever has before because he is fighting for his job just plan and simple.  He needs to tell Wicklin to get off his ASS and recruite the best damn Offensive Linemen in the country and get them signed.  Every Coach on that Staff better understand they could be out of a job after December 3.  Charlie,  you need to let every recruit know that they want be redshirted because if they are good enough to start or play they will be on the Field.  Get them excited and wanting to come to Texas.  They have to believe they will have a chance to play as freshman because if we are 1-9 telling them they will be redshirted is just going to send them to another program .  Charlie tell me that we are getting Offensive lineman with the next class, and that we are going to have much more speed at the receiver positions,  tell me our DB's will be physical and fast ,  tell me that we are going to see all of this and YES I WILL SAY GIVE CHARLIE MORE TIME!

paragraphs and space breaks are your friends.

This is college football not the pros it doesn't take 2 years for an offense to take place. I don't want to end up like University of Miami or university of Florida, they both waited too long to make the correct changes. If strong doesn't show promise by the end of the season and pull a good recruiting class then it's time to move on. I love the man Charlie Strong and the Defensive coordinator but he needs to show leadership and good coaching decisions

Guys the defense is in just as bad of shape as the offense and Charlie is supposed to be a defensive guy. Bedford as DC has to go. bring back Greg Robinson in December. 8 months with Greg will save Charlie. Look what he did for the defense when he was plugged in two games into the season after Diaz screwed us up.

And sometimes silence is golden. :D
Try it and I will let you know what I think.

Mike Perrin needs to step in and show some leadership. He has had time to settle in. It's time we start hearing from him.

i will make it a short then.  Charlie tell me why we should believe you are still the right man for the job!

No one thinks Norvell will be OC next year. Charlie has already proven he doesn't have a clue how to hire offensive coaches. His specialty, defense, has produced what is pretty much a lock to be the worst defense in the history of the program. We bring in a new OC and after we struggle (because Charlie has yet again brought in the wrong OC) people say it is a matter of continuity, but in 2017 we will be GREAT!

Defense is lousy, special teams suck, Coach Strong is clueless about offense and he seems to have no ideas how to right the ship.

Tell me where I am wrong.

We have become aggy.
"We have become Aggy"

I'll tell you where you are wrong. We do not become Aggy by our play on the field. We become Aggy when people of the UT program (Players, coaches, fans, alumni, students, boosters, reporters, journalists, etc....) start acting like little girls. When we all start responding to our football team's play on the field with the attitude of an immature little ***** that involves: whining/crying, making excuses, blaming/pointing fingers, making threats, panicking, and lacking composure and a level head - is when we become Aggy.

SO AS SUPPORTERS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN, LETS BE BETTER THAN AGGY. Let us all give our love and support and trust to the Program, and let it play out and make it's turnaround. Come early, be loud, wear burnt orange, stay late, and hook em horns.

What makes you think Perrin has a better handle on CFB offensive strategy than Strong or any other head coach?

I don't see Perrin being any help at all unless he hires a consultant to assist. Who might that be?

If the Longhorns continue down this path they're currently on and they finish with 3-4 wins does Charlie stay as coach for next year? I say yes. If the above scenario happens and Chip Kelly is fired in Philly and expresses an interest, does Charlie stay on for another year? Now I'm not so sure. I want CS to have success at Texas and I think he will in time. The question is, what is that definition of success. To me, success is multiple conference championships and a handful of playoff appearances. I just don't know if this coaching staff is capable of that. Bottom line is do you pass on a proven commodity like Chip to wait if this turns around or Do we cut our losses and move forward? Those guys don't come around very often. Again, I want Charlie to succeed at Texas, but more importantly I want the Longhorns to be relevant in college football again.

I need to see some coaching triumphs.. On offense and defense. A few reasons I love strong is due to his core values and heis a damn good recruiter but there are a lot of good recruiters in college football. I need to see some improvement a good example would be quality wins.

FYI I apologize I've drank a lot of vodka and beer. But I feel pretty strong about seeing some damn improvements

Can you honestly answer these questions with a 100% assured YES.....Without orange colored glasses or Kool-Aid....

Do you truly believe we beat OU ?

Do you truly believe we beat Baylor ?

Do you truly believe we beat Tech ?

Do you truly believe we go into Morgantown and beat WVU ?

...and if you answered NO...Do you truly believe we make either of these games remotely close ( 10 or less ) ?

All I can say is ...looking at craig's list etc. .....I better not be sitting by a damn Sooner fan Saturday morning  !!!! You Charlie supporters better show up for the slaughter just like I am.
