Trouble brewing?

Rumored to be Sanders and Meander.  Hopefully the rumor is wrong or they're only being questioned as witnesses and not participants.

No sense in getting worked up over a "she said, he said" rumor right now.  Could be bad or could be nothing.

One of the sites is saying neither has been accused of a crime

It is always possible they were questioned as witnesses

And Charlie Strong has his first clear opportunity to put recruiting on the back burner and put leadership in the forefront. None of us has a clue what the facts are, but let's hope Coach handles the situation the right way. Screw everything else. Whether it is to defend the reputation of the players involved or hold individuals accountable, get the facts and do the right thing.

I don't think it is a good idea to mention names at this point.
I'm relaying what was posted on another site.  I also clarified that it was unclear if these players were witnesses or participants.  Not sure how else to more clearly qualify and clarify the information, but if I have information I will share it.

if nobody knows the facts, how is this a 'clear opportunity' ? Maybe it's something , maybe it's nothing.

There's no opportunity until Stromg knows what's going on. If the two aren't even accused of a crime, Strong is doing exactly what he should do. Nothing. Like above posters have stated the two could very well just be witnesses based on the wording of the article posted.

and that addresses your 'clear opportunity' as it relates to strong how?
Charlie Strong is the head coach of the football team at the University of Texas. He got the job about six months ago. When he assumed his current position, he did so with an air of authority, a reputation for acting with integrity and an expressed belief in the importance of demonstrating leadership.
To date, his commitment to the aforementioned character traits had not been publicly tested. The involvement of the police in an official capacity into the lives of two of his players creates a "clear opportunity" for Charlie Strong to demonstrate his commitment to the aforementioned character traits.

In particular, the "clear opportunity" is to "do the right thing" and to "act in his official capacity as head coach of the University of Texas football team" and "take actions that comport with the values we believe are consistent with the best interests of the University of Texas, its alumni and its proponents."

Charlie Strong is the f'ing coach at UT. It is it really such a strange concept that some of the alumni expect for his $5 mil/year he be expected to do something that makes people think he is the right person for the job? He has two players being interviewed by the police in a sexual assault investigation. How is it difficult to imagine he should set an example as a leader, protect the reputation of the university and act as someone in a leadership capacity would reasonably be expected to?

There are times I feel as if I am living on a different planet. The poster boy of wrong decisions (to me) was Tom Osborne and Lawrence Phillips. Get the information available and act with integrity. The "clear opportunity" is to act in a way that is consistent with the values he espouses. Either he gets it right or he doesn't. Welcome to the big stage, Charlie.

As we type, we don't know shit. I assume Charlie will take action if our players were involved in anything wrong. If he doesn't that would be a problem.

Next.
We aren't expected to know shit. We also aren't getting paid $5 mil/year to lead the program. He is getting paid $5 mil/yr. He is expected to know shit. Once he knows shit he needs to protect the reputation of the program.

Next.

I assume he will. You don't?
I dont go through life assuming much. I prefer to see results. Hence, he comment that you find so objectionable that this presents a "clear opportunity" for him to offer an example of his integrity and leadership. Young men often benefit from authority figures providing concrete examples of how to act in certain situations.

Why are you assuming the players know facts? People are questioned all the time, and have no clue what went down. We have no clue yet why the players were even questioned.
