Article on the differences between how the sites rate recruits

Found this to be an interesting read.

One thing I would like to see Hornsports do it post a grid ranking all the State of Texas players (and the players with offers from Texas school) based on the different services and creating an average score for each.

echeese, what you are requesting is a time-consuming project of unbelievable magnitude. In addition, it would require a continual rolling update or average, depending on the situation. Just for grins, why do we need it? We can't recruit, and we can't 'wink, wink' assist in recruiting. Furthermore, Charlie doesn't need our help.

A fan on another Texas site that I don't believe you frequent has a working model of successful coaches. It incorporates a rolling average, strength of schedule, recruiting classes, and time at the school. It appears to be pretty darn accurate, but he is a statistical 'whiz', and I believe that he has an advanced degree from UT (naturally) in mathematics. He worked on that model in excess of a year. At the least, coaches tend to stay in their profession for an extended period of time. What kind of time drain would it be to put a list of high school prospects together? How do you account for late bloomers with only a senior year to use for statistics?

Interesting, you bet. Worth the time drain, no way. How many subscribers at $4.95 per month would it take to fund the project?

Let's put out collective heads together and come up with a way to show this team our appreciation after we win ALL of our games this year. That's right. This year!

Hook 'em!

A very interesting read, but I'm with java.

I trust Charlie Strong's evaluation process more than the "recruiting gurus".  Not that I have a choice in the matter.
