2025 Recruiting Board/Thread

M
We're done in this class if Simon commits. That's a RB room in 2025 of:
Jaydon Blue - Junior
C J Baxter - Soph
Tre Wisner - Soph
Jerrick Gibson - RS Frosh
Christian Clark - RS Frosh
Rickey Stewart - True Freshman
James Simon - True Freshman

Don't forget we are pursuing Tradarian Ball and Javian Osborne in 2026.
Must get Ball!

If Jaydon Blue has a breakout year (he is more than capable) then I could easily see him enter the draft. A RB room of 5-6 is about right.

On the RB front, I think Wisner is going to earn a lot of touches this year. There is something about him that I really like. He isn't a Keilan or Jaydon speedster, he isn't Bijan elusive, and he isn't a power back like Baxter, but he posseses a lot of those traits in one package.
I think Jaydon Blue is Brooks 2.0 and then Wisner is 3.0. Baxter is a beast unto himself. Maybe a comp for him is D'Onta Foreman.

IT caught up with ATH Michael Terry III of San Antonio Alamo Heights today.

He said he still speaks with Sark, but hasn't set up an official visit to Texas yet.

He also mentioned he's open to playing whichever side of the ball gets him on the field the fastest, but ultimately prefers offense which seemingly lessens his chance of being in Texas' class.

IT spoke with CB Dorian Brew of Conroe High today and he said he's in frequent contact with Texas.

They feel confident in the Longhorns' positioning right now, but think there is still a ways to go in this recruitment even though he wants to have a decision by the end of June.

Nahlin at IT spoke with the parents of S Jonah Williams "at length" today, and his father reiterated Texas is right there with other schools despite public information saying otherwise.

Mr. Williams had a call with Sark last week and the feeling is Texas is still "all in" with Jonah.

Jonah himself mentioned he'll likely go pro in baseball if he's drafted by the third round, but otherwise is content playing both football and baseball in college.

Nahlin ended his note on Williams by saying he thinks Texas can pull this one off even though he admits that sounds crazy currently.

Also from IT, they mentioned TE Emaree Winston is supposed to visit Auburn at some point.

Nahlin didn't act like he had any concrete info, but floated the idea that the staff could be pivoting towards Armstrong and Townsend at TE.

As things stand, Texas is in the Top 2 for both and the school they have in common.

I interviewed his big brother a couple of weeks ago and he is trying H A R D to flip him to Arkansas.l

I could see why he wouldn't care to go to that program. Arkansas is going to have a tough go of it.

Texas could use him as a hybrid TE/WR. Like JaTavion Sanders.

RB James Simon of Shreveport, LA picks Texas.

Simon told On3 he let Sark and Coach Choice know he was a Longhorn after getting back home from the spring game.

Quotes from RB James Simon after committing to Texas (On3):

“They made me feel like a big priority from the second they started recruiting me,” Simon told On3. “It was different. They were real. They talked about everything on and off the field. The coaches were helping me with anything that I needed and giving me advice. They weren’t just treating me like a recruit. "

“Coach Tashard Choice and coach Steve Sarkisian played huge roles in my decision. Coach Sarkisian talked to me almost weekly and we built a real connection. I really felt a genuine connection with him.”

“They can put you in a great position for life after football because of the connections that are in Austin and the people that surround the program,”
said Simon, the No. 115 overall prospect and No. 8 running back in the 2025 On300. “I also like the offense. It’s so explosive and the way they use their running backs is great. The way coach Sarkisian talked to me about how he’s going to use me and how he sees me fitting in the offense, it was something I couldn’t say no to.”

“He (Coach Choice) supports you,”
Simon said. “He’s always there. He’s got energy. He’ll build you up. He’s going to have you ready to go play football. He always sets the mood and gets you excited. That’s a good, happy feeling to have around you, especially if it’s from your coach. That makes it even better.”

“I definitely think they’re going to be one of the best programs in the nation,”
Simon said. “After making the College Playoff last year, I could say that they already were, but they’re now definitely going to be one of those teams that are contending for a national championship almost every year. I feel like it’s going to be like that for a pretty long time.”
