Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

This one hurts, IMO.
I think it would've hurt, but the reports I'm hearing is that Collin and Zina are the real deal at Edge. Thinking maybe they moved ahead of Walton. We (as Texas fans) haven't experienced solid players leaving because better players are beating them out.

Walton was a dog. We need dogs. He would have had a lot of PT this season.

I like Walton's attitude. I don't think he was physically ready to contribute at edge much LAST year.
That certainly wasn't the case THIS year. Kid had put on 25 lbs of muscle. He will be a star wherever he lands.

Heard some decent reports on him but I do feel we recruited over him. He was probably 3rd string edge this year at least.

Did we recruit over Blue? I mean the RB room is chock full of studs. Who was recruited over?

At end, maybe two good players weren't going to get all the snaps over the course of a game?

At the least, Walton would have split time with probably both ends.

I blame the portal for this. Kids aren't willing to wait, develop and get experience like the old days. The hungrier you got, the better you became or you just dropped out. I feel like someone is whispering into these kids ears telling them what they want to hear.

I kind of feel sorry for them. I believe, most would be better off staying with their teams. Those that realize they won't make it at the next level may just be going to a place they can play. I'm good with that.

I think he will be successful elsewhere. I think the edge room was too crowded for him this year. I do wish he would have stayed and developed. He could have been a big contributor down the road.

I guess I look at as a good and bad thing. Hate to lose this kid, but he obviously wasn't getting the snaps he thought he deserved. I don't know if they recruited over him, but it sounds positive that one or two other guys are outperforming him. This is a good thing and what good to great teams experience.

It's weird, because I can't remember the last time Texas had guys leaving because they're getting beat out and not because of turmoil in the locker room or with the coaches.

There is no previous example. The instant transfer portal has changed everything
