The complete 1 st half

18 rushes for 132 yards, 7.33 ypc
19 passes for 117 yards, 6.16 ypa

That includes our final drive before halftime

That is not what I would call rush heavy game plan but more balanced, especially considering the first drive of game was 4 passes and 1 rush which ended up as a punt. We punted 4 times in the first half
Out of curiosity, what is the data without the final 2 minute drive?

Entire 1st half:

18 rushes for 132 yards, 7.33 ypc
19 passes for 117 yards, 6.16 ypa

-------------------------------------------
The final drive before the half was

4 rushes for 25 yards, 6.25 ypc
6 passes for 36 yards, 6 ypa

-------------------------------------------
So 1st half without final half drive

14 rushes for 107 yards, 7.65 ypc
13 passes for 81 yards, 6.23 ypa

Didnt make that much of a difference. My point is I was a little frustrated with the play calling. I was hoping we would run more during the game. Now the 2 fumbles were killer and that isnt on the coaches but we seemed to push the pass when Ewers and the receivers were not having a great night. Michigan's QB had a terrible night vs Washington as well but they rushed very effectively. I dont know the passing stats from that game but it was awful.

That is the point I am trying to make. Its easy to second guess but I felt this way during our game and it was frustrating as hell.

It seemed as though we were trying to force the pass vs the #1 pass offense team. Like an ego thing, well to me it did. Now had Ewers been on fire like he was in Big 12 Championship I think it would have been different but Ewers runs hot and cold this year. I do believe he will be more consistent next year if he comes back.

Just to be clear, I am not blaming Ewers as there were a few dropped passes in the hands, protection breakdowns, batted down passes etc but I wish Sark had called more runs especially considering we gained more per rush play than we did pass plays the entire 1st half. Michigan had over 220 yards running the first half vs Washington

Aggy is agood example. The other teams an now tell recruits we play two teamsfrom Texas so your friends and family can see you.

One of the reasons Texas moved to the SEC is for recruiting. Many of the best players want to play on the biggest stage, and that's primarily the SEC, with the B1G coming in 2nd.

The SEC and B1G already enjoyed a recruiting advantage, and with the expanded SEC,B1G and playoffs that advantage is only going to grow.

With 16 teams in the SEC and two Texas teams, each non Texas school will play in Texas about every 2 years. To think that gives other SEC schools the ability to pry athletes away from Texas seems silly, and definitely doesn't negate the SEC recruiting advantage.

Oh the myth of the SEC. Texas has beat Ala. the last 2 times they played. And Geo. the last time.
These two schools are the SEC. With right coach Fla. might return to what they once was. Check the bowl records on SEC.

Recruiting has not been the problem for Texas. I would think forlast 6-7 yearsTexas in recruiting has been ranked above Mich. andfor sure Wash. I just do not see how joining the SEC can help Texas recruiting!

Until Sark showed up Texas was doomed by bad recruiting in the trenches. When Sark came that was helped by position coaches with more credibility, but also likely also helped by the SEC move.

How much Sark's recruiting is being helped by the move to the SEC is impossible to objectively measure, but if you don't think that lots of recruits want to play in the SEC , then you aren't paying attention.

Oh I am paying attention. Andthat is key word paying! OL was payed extramoney over standard NIL.

IMO money was primary factor in move to SEC. Belive DL was notso bad pre. Sark. OL wasfor many years back to Mack.

ETX... Brother, you are one of a kind. One word distracted you from your original point.

Recruit after recruit have said how impactful the move to the sec was I'm their recruitment.
No Arch, Simmons, Wingo, Baker etc... if we are still in the b12. Everyone has NIL. You think Ole Miss and Auburn are getting all these high end recruits and transfers because kids dreamed of going to those schools? Nope. Sec combined with NIL is really hard to pass up.

Actually, the last 2 times Texas played Bama, they've split the games so it's 1-1, not 2-0 in favor of Texas.

As far as your last statement, if you can't see it, I can't help you.

since the 70's other schools have poached the state for talent, it used to be would you rather start for us at XYZ or sit on the bench at Texas, now with the Horns in the SEC any kid in state can stay at home but still play in the SEC which means better path to the NFL for the 5*....I actually think OU might start losing TX kids to other SEC schools, thats probably more wishful thinking on my part

To all who answered my posts. You all have goodpoints. The money I was refering was not NIL, it was revenue money for Texas.

If it was not for ESPN hype (they are losing money) SEC would not be so popular.

Food for thought since B10 and B10 future beat SEC and SEC future, are they the new flavor?

Edited to say I belive Mack locked Texas down in recruiting.

From what I saw on ESPN this morning Texas had one more pressure on Penix than Michigan did. Although it looked like the Wolverines hit him whereas Texas didn't.
We did get good pressure but it was hardly disguised and Penix knew exactly where it was coming from. Michigan did so much better disguising their blitzes. Michigan had the perfect game plan to stop Penix while we just did the same thing we’ve been doing all year. That’s coaching. I think we had the personnel to pull it off we just didn’t.

Georgia would’ve beat every single playoff team including Alabama (if they played them again). They certainly would’ve beaten everyone else.

Let’s start with Ryan Williams! Jan 27 looks a lot more interesting! Now who replaces him. That should be interesting. Hopefully not Sark!
