I think you've got to adjust your thinking on class numbers. It's a new paradigm these days with the portal. Sark seems to want to bring full classes in and let the dominoes fall where they may. If you are over 85, some players will transfer out.
I wouldn't bet on that class size but I also wouldn't bet against it.

July 20th - D'Antre Robinson (Texas Lean)
July 22nd - Corian Gipson (Strong Texas Lean, unless you ask Mike Roach)
End of July likely - TJ Lindsey
End of July/August - Brandon Baker, Wardell Mack
Before season/Fall - Kobe Black, Collin Simmons
Early Signing Day - Ryan Wingo (confirmed dec 20th date (ESD), but also says he could commit any day now)
January AA Game - Dominick McKinley (but may commit before season)
Unknown - Danny Okoye, Zina Umeozulu

If you are over 85 some players will be asked to leave. My point is IMO team with alot of turn overs in personal will never win big.
A 3* player who has been in program 2-3 years will out preform a 5* freshman most of he time.
As for as the portal it has been a lot more misses than help Watts comes to mind.

Another part of price payed for joining SEC. Opens state for recruiting by others.

Aggy had already done that. If anything it's opening doors to SE states for Texas to recruit.

Can't agree with this at all.
Bridges wanted to be top dog at his school. That wasn't going to happen at Texas.
Some of the best players want to play on the biggest stage, which is the SEC. I believe that put Texas at a recruiting disadvantage. With Texas and ou joining the SEC the SEC recruiting advantage will grow.
It's true that other SEC schools may be able to attract some top TX guys, but on the other hand we will be more attractive to out of state athletes. Time will tell, but I believe this will be a big net benefit.

Maybe to a degree but it is also safe to say that some of the recent recruits may not look at Texas if we stayed in the Big 12-3 plus a bunch of second tier teams. I’ll take the trade of knowing that when we win, recruits will come to Texas in the SEC.
