You can call it what you want.  I'd love to be 8-4 and heading to a bowl.  Instead we were 5-7 and lost to Kansas......at home.
Is this recruiting haul benefitting from a down season and not going to a bowl? Would the coaching staff otherwise be occupied with bowl preparation instead of recruiting and thus miss out on a few of these blue chips?

Not when this was the year you would win your division finally. lol You're putting lipstick on a pig. I'm not defending Texas, but then again, this never was supposed to be our year. We had a 1st year HC and a new system on both sides of the ball. Aggy didn't have those challenges.

When did the fondness for aggy start? I think we have drugs for that.

But it’s year 4 for their $100mm coach with preseason top 5 ranking.  And they just bid against themselves to add 4 more years guaranteed. Jumbo Shrimp is 34-14 in 4 years at atm. Sumlin was 36-16 in 4 years. Great year.

Our year was bad but it was the first year for a new coach.

Could care less what A$M does but if this is a down year for Alabama hope Texas gets one soon!

It’s always a down year if you lose to aggy.

I can already here the aggy fans (up here in Ohio) if Alabama wins the national championship

They have already cleared a spot on the stadium facade to add another MNC.

8-4, 7-3, that's a "not our year" year.  I don't think anyone predicted 5-7 and losing to Kansas at home.  aggie's offense did enough to post an 8-4 record with a backup qb.  I'm sure their season expectations weren't based on having a backup qb playing the majority of the season.

Regardless of my disdain of aggie, I'll give respect where it's due.

No respect is due. We played our season with a back up QB and an sieve for an offensive line. Jumbo was hired as a QB whisperer who had 4 years to develop depth at the position that he didn’t develop. No matter how you slice it a disappointing year for aggy.

And by the way all their years since about 1939 have been “not our years”. Except for that year in the 2000s they won the 1919 national championship.

Aggy went 8-4, not 7-3. Where did that come from?

I can agree to most of the rest of what you said, however, I think that reflects more on the predictors than it does the team. It just wasn't ready for prime time. And as usual, the predictors blame the team for not living up to their expectations instead of realizing they evaluated all wrong to begin with.

He may be talking about our year last year. We fired our coach after a 7-3 year being tired of “not our years”.

So he's now comparing Tom Herman with Jimbo?

I think we're all tired.

If we went 8-4 or 7-3, that is a "not our year" year.

"It just wasn't ready for prime time" - If you are referring to aggie, I agree

Aggy said this would be their year. All the talent was there. They meant either undefeated or 12-1. Now, they will lose a ton from this team going into next year. . . and still don't have a QB that's experienced and proven.
