As I said, ewers has great physical talent

but his mental performance at the college level remains to be seen
This can be said about every high school recruit so I dont get your point.  Ewers should be a HS senior this year and he doesnt have but 2 snaps at osu.

Yes, but other recruits do not carry his high expectations

with millions of dollars in his pocket it may be difficult for him to keep his mind on football

i will be happy to see him sitting on the bench this year if his maturity does not match his arm strength
You are over thinking this.  He will be fine.  Even VY had some learning curve.  Its not like we expect him to throw for 12 TD in his first game....well not all of us do

Ewers will have 9 months to get ready for next football season

but at this point I consider him nothing more than an backup

What I think is that signing ewers may pay off big in the future but not next year

i encouraged more by the OL signings and better players at other positions of immediate need

Ewers maye be great or not. The dollars will not help. As some one said Vince was not breat over night.

Hopeing for bestbut remember champion ship game not so good under pressure.

He is Sarks kind of QB. Pocket passer run only if necesary. Maybe best pro. prospect at Texas since Layne.

I think card or thompson will leave

Hopefully not because injuries could change everything in just one play

but assuming ewers is #2 or #3, if we can manage a few comfortable leads during the season ewers could get some much needed playing time

The competition will be wide open.  Seems silly to think Ewers doesn't have a shot at starting immediately,  or soon after.  Only time will tell how the QB room shakes out.

I've heard several dozen times on this board over the last year that he is a starter from day 1. I guess his OSU experience has made him mortal?  Lol

Anything stirring for other positions as of late?  LB, OL, DB, etc?
DB – Harris or bust I guess. I think we're in on a couple others. But the energy in the room is being sucked up by this recruitment. UT side is confident. Perroni, today, began fudging a little bit.

LB – Just lost McKinzie (we hardly knew ya). Staff is courting Dudley who just decommitted elsewhere. This is the type of LB we want.

OL – Malik Agbo has a final four and will announce Wednesday. UT feels good about this one.

Not done at WR or RB.
