Still talking. He's been Longhorn fan all his life. Wants to come here. Hopefully, we can show up on the field and get him back.
Glad to hear they are still talking from someone in the know. I have read before he has been a Longhorn fan all his life, as was I when I was a kid. I could not imagine going anywhere else, and perhaps he cannot either. I am a bit encouraged by his not committing elsewhere immediately, and I was hoping the UT coaches were a part of that.

Thank you for the info, SH.

Well, while he loves the Horns, he's alway conscious of his ability to grow at the next level. And that has made him hesitant with the Horns' play. For a couple of weeks there, UT's name was pretty much muddled with uncertainty as far as the coaching staff goes. It still is but now its a bit quieter.

Zero chance he is coming here if Herman is still here.

I watched a little film on Charles Wright and I gotta say that I'm impressed.

I'll start by saying that Wright is not at the same level of prospect as Ewers, so please don't read anything into that.  Ewers can make all throws with a simple flick of his wrist and has better size that fits a prototypical QB.  However, Wright seems to have similar traits, but at a level below.  If it wasn't for Covid, I think CW would rated as a mid-4* based on what i've observed.  He plays behind an awful OL in HS (so he won't need to adjust at Texas) and really didn't come on the scene until later in his Jr. Year.  If he had gone to camps and things like that, I have no doubt he would be bumped higher in the ratings. He is not a better runner than Sam E., but he is a much better passer that can run.  I guess I would compare him to Brock Purdy, but maybe with more upside.  Again, he is not Ewers-level, but I think Texas got a steal with this one.  I actually like him more than Milroe (who is a very good player), but I think Wright is a better all-around QB than him. If properly developed (big if), he could be something really good.  This is just my opinion.

Thats ok. Major Applewhite wasn't a Ewers, either.

If this is true then Herman really needs to go.

I'm not expert but I do not believe this for a second. Not even Herman is arrogant enough to believe he could get away with, let alone survive doing something like that. Seems a lot like more negative recruiting which admittedly, he has brought a lot of on himself.

So true.  Who is/was a better prospect, Chris Simms or Ewers?
Well, Simms was more hyped because of his dad's name. He also played his HS ball in Jersey, where he was able to dominate. Ewers faces pretty decent competition week-in, week-out.

Simms was more polished, obviously a player's son. He may have had a better understanding of the game than Ewers at this point. Both have good arms and make all the throws.

But Ewers has a guttiness that I'm not sure Simms ever had. He's not afraid to tuck and run, although he's not real fast. I never got the impression Simms liked having to run.

I think it's a great comparison. Ewers' book isn't finished yet so he could come out better than Simms.
