SignUp Now!If I remember correctly, Alabama has Butch Jones now. Lane Kiffin was in that job before he became the Alabama OC. And Steve Sarkisian landed in that role at Alabama as well. Its normal for a HC, OC or DC to take a gig like this while waiting for another opportunity to open up. I wouldn't expect to have Fedora more than a year, if that.
They are not involved in recruiting much, only in times when recruits are on campus and even then, minimally.
They watch our competition, they watch us. And they integrate their findings into the overall picture via TH.
To answer you and @83Dee Fedora was very successful as an OC at Okie Lite before being a great head coach at Southern Miss. Then lead UNC to 11 wins and looked like he was going to be great until the past two years. But he is still being paid by UNC so tons of coaches will take analyst jobs while still getting paid millions by the other school. I fully expect he will be a power 5 OC this time next year. The list of good quality coaches who have done this is quite vast.I am with Dee on this one.....channeling my inner Groucho here.... I am suspect of any coach that would accept this job.
Allowed to help with things on campus. Not allowed to go on the road.I wonder how involved these analyst can get in recruiting? I guess they can help with pretty much anything on campus.
Alabama has become notorious for doing this lately. They are able to take an analyst gig so that they can continue to get paid their buyout money before taking another gig. Saban has hoarded fired HCs and eventually promoted to bigger roles. Is it only surprising to me that a young HC at a power 5 school’s next stop would be an analysist position?
Glad to have him, but he must have excelled as a position coach and coordinator to get where he was?
Not a slam - glad to have him - and granted, maybe I don’t understand the new world of “support staff.”
Will the south end zone project have us at a smaller capacity next season?
I expect DKR to set an attendance record for the LSU game
