Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

I don't normally watch "Pardon the Interruption".  The other day Tony Kornheiser was making a point about the future of Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.  As he was talking, it was like he was thinking out loud, said something like who knows, Pete Carroll may end up back at USC.  I can see him adding spark and excitement into that program.  I hope that was just talk.

No, football isn't war. But remove the war, have you changed the Marine? Is that code only active during war?

The analogy certainly does fly. And if you insist on dismissing it, then I'll simply turn to what my mother always taught me – YOU. DON'T. QUIT.
Jumping on a grenade has the same consequences as not short arming a pass when you know you’re going to get hit...

I see it now.

I’d love to play you in poker if you don’t know when to fold’em.

While I used to be an adherent to this, my perspective has changed.

I've been living in the wack-a-doodle state of California, in the ultra-insane Bay Area for the last 10+ years. I've come across a number of Texas Aggies. I'm specifying Texas, as there are a ton of local Aggies from UC Davis, which is a large university that you have probably never heard of (in the Big Sky conference). I'm in Longhorn gear a lot when out and about, so my allegiances are pretty apparent. I get a number of random "Hook 'em" comments from people, who upon conversation, actual turn out to be Texas Aggies. In this land of crazy, they are just as glad to come across a Texan of any ilk as I am, and I don't think I have ever walked away from a conversation with one without a smile on my face.

Does a Marine get up every day and jump on a grenade? Or if it happens at all, it would be something like a 1 in 1K chance of happening?

You win. Marines do nothing but conduct constant war. . . I guess.

You don't want to play me in poker. You would just not like me even more. lol

Pete won’t go back to college football, especially after what happened with Bush. The NCAA will also make sure he doesn’t go back.

No, I didn’t jump on a grenade once. I don’t know if I could of or would of. I’d like to think I could but I somehow doubt it.  But analogizing a game played by kids for the bragging rights of one school’s alumni over another’s reminds me of the Aggie cadet defending his field from a SMU cheerleader with a sword.

At this point.  I’ll foldem and walk away

I'm sorry it reminds you of that. I thank you for your service.

We have an opportunity to win three more games including a bowl game. 11-3 sounds pretty good.

Is 10-3 good enough to get the 4th playoff spot if we see a handful of teams ahead of us lose between this weekend and their conference championship games?

10-3 will never get the playoffs.
