Official statement from Bamba

“After an incredibly rewarding year at The University of Texas, I will not be returning school as I will be entering the NBA Draft.”

The Freshman averaged 12.9 points and 10.5 rebounds in his lone season in Austin

As expected. This "one and done" is getting really old. Just my opinion though.

I guess he is just making this official. Whose going to take his spot next year? That's the real question.

Sims was pretty impressive towards the end of the season. Texas also has several forwards in the incoming recruiting class who will be ready to contribute early.

Thank you for your year Mr Bamba, good luck on you new adventure.  Please Remember the Longhorns and help recruit the future.

I agree, let them go pro after HS if they are good enough. Not every one goes to college so why should athletes have to?

Sims benefited practicing against Mo for a year and as you stated, it showed later in the year.

I think Sims improved a lot last year but no one is going to mistake him for Mo Bamba. He seemed to lack confidence at times and seemed uncomfortable as being the "Mo Bamba" role when Bamba was out.

Sims may be the starting center next year but he won't be a dominant center.

Never doubted this for a minute; and Bomba never hinted that it would be anything but one and done.   He made the right decision; but I wish the opportunity wasn't there for this decision to be made.  One and done isn't good for NCAA or NBA basketball.

Agree... but the fate of this  team and quite possibly Coach Shaka won't be decided by Center play but the teams ability to shoot from beyond the arc.  And a bonus would be from the free throw line.

FT line says it all...well not it all but did cost us quite a few games this season.

Wescott Eberts actually had a good article regarding Texas basketball. He simply asked the question, "where is the havoc defense?"
