*****Texas vs. Texas Tech Game Thread*****

I said at the beginning of the season that Texas may finish around .500 in Big XII play due to the overall strength of the conference.

Be that said, the fact that they are pulling it off starting 4 true freshmen and a transfer should negate the talk that Smart can't coach.

Found the formula for a Texas hoops win...I didn't watch the game.  Great win, classy move with Tech wearing pre-game shirts with Jones and his number on the back.  Hopefully we can win some games that I actually watch from here on out.  Roach came back strong tonight, hope he stays healthy.  Need his defense and offense just like tonight!

Great win!

Realistically need 8 more to make the big dance pretty comfortably. Still think this team finishes with an over .500 conference record.

PS. Nice gesture on the warmup jerseys Tech wore to put AJ1 on there.

Does anyone know why Banks never plays, and how come Young was taken out of the rotation?

I think it is simply a case that Simms took his minutes.

Mo leaves at the end of the season and Banks plays as a senior.

Nice post... a few counter points (if I may):

> I said early on that Texas will be lucky to go .500 in Big 12 play.  We are tracking here.

> I officially now ignore the “but we’re young” sentiment in all Texas men’s sports.  It seems like I’ve been hearing that for like 10 consecutive mediocre seasons.  If Shaka is beginning a ground up rebuilding process in year 3, something has gone wrong.

> Love Shaka.... but he needs to tweek his recruiting philosophy and prioritize shooting even over athleticism.  If not, we are hoping to go .500 in Big 12 when these four freshmen are juniors.

Nice win.  Kids are inspired by the fight their brother (Jones) is facing.
