I was watching the Orlando/Beck Q and A last night.  One answer that jumped out at me was when Beck was asked basically if Warren would get more touches this week.

Beck responded (paraphrased)  "Oh, I dont know, I try not to get caught up in those type of things.  Im going to do whats working.  I feel like Chris and Kyle are interchangeable, believe it or not.  Either one of those guys can do whatever we need or ask them to do.  I trust coach Drayton, he knows.  Its entirely up what he feels."

Its start about 17:52 in the video.

Porter is listed as starter again.  Yes he had a much better day running vs SJSU but still there is NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER Warren is the MAN at RB.  Why is Stan Drayton being stubborn about this?  Hes the asst HC/RB Coach but its pretty obvious Warren is the better yardage back.  It isnt close at all.  Porter just isnt impressive from a running stand point.  He runs like he is waiting to be tackled.

Warren   22 - 197, 9.0 avg

Porter     24 -  93, 3.9 avg

Unless there is something we cannot see, Warren appears to be superior at RB.  I do see Porter's potential and he is rather young and should only improve.

I have heard it said that Porter is the more competent blocker.  I haven't bothered to confirm if he is or not because we have many people here much more dedicated to breaking down film.  But if we accept that Porter is the better blocker then it would stand to reason that the more Shane plays, the more Porter plays.

I have not bothered to look at who is actually the better blocker but its very apparent most carries are wasted on Porter.  Warren should be the workhorse.  He has proven himself in 2 games just as he did last year.

Now Im not a highly paid OC or RB coach but its obvious on the field in games who should be getting the carries.  I dont buy Becks reasoning (excuse).  Warren has less carries but has gained more double the yards.  Warren punishes the defense and tires them out.  Porter is the 2 yard wonder.

this reminds me of playing J.Gray after his injury when D`Onta was clearly more productive. most of Porters yards against SJSU came late in game in 1st half he averaged about 3 yards a carry while Warren was around 10

I try not to look to deep into it, it's a mind game with USC. There not giving any info out. Porter was listed as starter last week and Warren got the first snap of the ball game. Warren will most def get the touches

He may only have said that to keep both egos in check. Warren had a fantastic game, so maybe he's trying to keep CW's feet on the ground.

No doubt.  Deja Vu for sure.

All valid points.

When I hear the staff repeat the definition of insanity this week.  Herman said it twice.  Orlando said it once.  Beck said we are going with whats working.  I cant help but think most carries are WASTED on porter but atleast they actually ran the ball vs SJSU.

I was just curious if there was some kind of conflict between Stan and Chris.  Even Herman seems shrug off Warrens production to some extent.  In his PC he said Chris can do better by seeing the hole earlier and stop running into our lineman.  Which is all true but when asked of Porter he mentions the linemen not holding their blocks.  Mind games probably.  Porter has the worst avg of all the backs so far.  Just seems odd not to go with the most productive Horse.

The Horned Frogs had Kyle as a verbal commitment and Texas had Darius Anderson.  Texas flipped Kyle then Darius flipped to TCU.  You just never know.
