Thursday Chat: All Questions Welcome

Let's look at it in a different way Mr.Weir, it's going to sound like a crazy question for me to ask this but let's say in a scenario that Texas beats OU and Okie St. Do you think that this loss to Vali wss the best thing that happened to them when you learn never to come into a game overconfident? I hope that makes sense in what I just asked

I need to ask how is he OK with a cracked rib? I had a couple of broken ribs when I was much younger and I remember how difficult it was to breathe and move in certain ways.  I don't think there was chance I could have thrown a football.  Could someone with some medical experience respond?

thanks

Mainly a pain management thing.  Tape it up tight, wear a flack jacket and go to work.  Shane is pretty tough.

If they beat Oklahoma St and OU, then yes I agree. That means they got pissed off after the loss and realized they needed to go to work. Sometimes it takes a loss to do that.

There were some rumors that BJM would get a shot at DC, but it appears that Bedford is retaining the play calling duties for now. I think you will see Strong making personnel decision specifically, and will take over if needed. I think it is pretty clear that Bedford does not take suggestions kindly from others.
Soooooo sounds pretty much like status quo.  But if Bedford throws a tantrum because other coaches are trying to show him the obvious, that this pass def scheme isn't working (as someone throws another pass to a wide open WR), then we need to move on.  Even if its another CS coordinator change in mid season.

Our style of offense doesn't hurt our defense in practice one bit. During the season you rarely see 1's on 1's running our scheme. The season is mainly focused on 1's vs a scout D or O who is running the opponents scheme. Maybe just maybe you might have a period or two here and there to go good on good in a short yardage or goal line segment to increase competition but that's probably it

I'd say it could lead to a Hudson shirt being burned depending on how it is handled.  But, Alex Anderson likely assumes the role at RG.
Right, I was thinking beyond Anderson, especially considering all the injuries we've see along the line.

I don't think we will see Hudson guys. He's pretty raw. Anderson would most likely slide in with Okafor maybe behind him.

What drugs are colleges allowed to give to players?

Which drug specifically was Shane given?

Who is the doctor that gives the medication to UT players?

IMO the NCAA does not regulate injections very strictly.

Toradol is most common (pain)

Marcaine is second (numbing)

I have no idea what Shane received or if he receive any at all, but at any given time there is 3-10 doctors on the sideline during CF games.

What has become of Lorenzo Joe since he pulled his hamstring back in fall camp?

I agree with Mike on this. A 3-4 with a FOX end fits the talent on this team really well. Being able to move Malik to the likes of a FOX/edge rusher is the ultimate goal. He is not a natural MLB and does not get off of blocks well. He will make his living getting to the quarterback.
Maybe it will happen before he enters the NFL draft early.... I've been hearing this for some time.

Could definitely see it simplified, specifically in the secondary. Texas has been running a ton of zone coverages, which is making them confused. Would like to see more man to man and press coverages to throw receivers off of their routes. That seems to be the best way to defend against the spread. Texas has the talent at CB to pull this off. Texas also needs to run more 3-4 with the FOX imo.
This seems to be a very common theme at Texas.... poor play is caused by coaches making things too complex.  It seemed like an annual announcement under Mack Brown / Greg Davis with the OL.... it certainly was the case with Diaz' defense; Robinson said he just simplified things and let athletes fly to the ball.  I could tell the DBs were confused; so... it happens again.
