It looks like we have our starting QB for the Notre Dame game

I think most would want nothing more for than Swoopes to succeed, however there is very little evidence at this point it will happen. Now with that said I do agree that both will play against Notre Dame.  Here is to hoping for the best.

And what is Swoopes track record. I know he's a nice guy BUT
Let's start with him now playing under his 4th Offensive Coordinator in 4 years.

In 2013, he had his redshirt burned for no good reason for minimal plays that had no impact on the team's record.

In 2014, he was thrust into the starting role before he was ready. Despite an offense that had little talent at the RB and WR positions and was criminally void of talent on the OL, he passed for over 300 in 3 games, including back to back games, and over 200 yards in 3 other games. Also threw more TD passes than interceptions. Had some good games and 2 really good games. Had some bad games and 2 really bad games. His overall season stats weren't that bad for a RS Freshman, which is what he really was.

In 2015, he starts the first game of the year against what turned out to be one of the best teams in the nation and played terrible. Was replaced and operated for the rest of the year in a toxic offensive coaching situation. As did Heard and the rest of the offense for that matter.

I think that pretty much sums it up from this point of view. Of course, someone else may see it different. And that's okay.

swoopes will start the ND game but buechele will get playing time.

If Swoopes starts, it doesn't mean he will necessarily finish as the starter.

I get folks are down on Ty and it's reasonable to have that opinion, but lets see how the game unfolds before we have a total meltdown. Like I said on Twitter, I would bet the house that both players play against ND, so it probably won't matter who trots out for the first series.
This^^^^^^  Geez,  there's no doubt they are both gonna play - Heck I expect Heard to play some QB as well.  They hysteria is mind boggling

I am amazed that the coaches who are paid millions collectively and whose ass is on the line for this game cannot clearly see what so many on this board know to be obvious!

My God!...some of yall are acting like you know more than the coaching staff. I know this to be an undeniable truth....the coaches are going to play the QB that they think gives them the best chance to win. Period. Whoever starts and plays the most will have a part.....a part in deciding the outcome. The qb will not be the only one on the field

I know that I was ecstatic when Swoopes was replaced by Heard because he was horrible in protecting the ball. Then they put in the 18 wheeler where he handled it completely, and he did very well. Perhaps this offense suits him. Then again, perhaps this is simply a smokescreen and Buschele will start and get the most snaps.

My thought is that I have no choice but to trust the staff to get it right.

Swoopes just hasn't improved from when he first lined up at QB to the last Baylor game and I've heard the same ole song every year since. Swoopes has improved, Swoopes has a grasp of the game, Swoopes looks great in camp BUT.....when the lights come on same ole mediocre DRIVE killing QB play.

So we're not supposed to discuss things on a discussion board? Makes sense.

Those of us who are "discussing" this are not "pissing our pants" nor are we "spoiled crybabies".

Join in if you want but don't be so damn condescending.
Some days Duke just doesn't quite get his medication right.

A large percentage of the UT fan base will cringe if Swoopes takes the first snaps. Guess we'll just cross our fingers and hope the light's finally come on.

Charlie needs to get the fan base behind his leadership. To do that, he needs to give the fans a reason to believe. I think the majority of the fans have passed judgement on Swoopes as QB.

If Charlie goes with Swoopes and the team gets blown out against ND, he is done at Texas.

I would agree that it will definitely but him behind the eight ball. But what if he starts SB and they lose by 14? Is Charlie in a no-win situation at this point?

I don't think so.

I think he's back as long as the team improves and finishes with a .500 or better record. The administration basically promised Gilbert - and others - that Strong will be here next year when they signed him. Only another losing record will result in his firing, IMO.

I think it's safe to say that most on this board want Texas to beat ND except for the Irish guy and the occasional stray aggy.

That's right.

UT can win all they want after Sept 4th.  That day shall belong to the Blue and Gold.

Go Irish
