Texas Baseball Coaching Search**Updated with David Pierce Hire**

Spent a couple of days with ton of MLB Scouts and D1 coaches.. The info is all over the place..

Was about to post some stuff I then checked with a couple of more people.. Lets just say that there are a ton of bad information that's floating around.
When you say bad information is it good for Texas cause there's some behind the scene stuff going on nobody knows about. The rumors going around are that and the media doesn't know what's going on.

My recap in this thread is accurate.  To Donald's point, there have been some really crazy rumors floating around.  Agents, MLB folks and fellow coaches, all saying what they're hearing.

I think we're best to just wait and see what happens in the next week or so.  I can assure you that Perrin is not sitting on his hands waiting.  As you say, there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and most of us don't know the full details.  We can try to piece things together, and Donald, as well as I, have sources that we talk to that are pretty well connected.

Soon boys and girls.  :)

While I hope you are right, how do you square that with reports we already offered the job to a couple guys?
Because of what I read from people like Donald Boyles (see post #258) and Joeywa (see post #262) and Java.

Instead of people who throw a bunch of stuff out there just to get viewers/readers/subscribers. Take those reports with a huge grain of salt because they definitely have another motive for what they tell you other than telling you what's really going on. It's the old "never let a good story get in the way of the truth" mentality.

At this time, I think it is prudent that I don't say anything.. Let's just say that with the end of the CWS fast approaching we will know at that time.

The time to expect the announcement would be the afternoon of Tuesday, June 28th. That is right before the second game of the three final games.

I just never have liked signing a coach from one of the other Big 12 teams.  To me that is saying we cannot beat you with what we have, so we will just "buy" your assets until we can win- much like the Yankees use to do.  Hire someone from out of the conference.  I may be wrong in my thinking, but how is hiring away another Big12 team's coach unlike stealing their better players.

Bohl's is reporting that we have interviewed Dan Heefner from Dallas Baptist. I mentioned him a few pages back and was not well received. This guy is a good coach......really good. He recruits good. He has been very close to making the CWS at DBU several times and will eventual make it. I am not saying he is the one, but we could do a heck of alot worse.

Heefner was indeed interviewed. I don't believe he will be the guy from what I've heard.

Holliday from Ok St, not a target according to my sources.

Seen some comments on some sites about Jay Johnson, the Arizona Wildcats head coach. Something to the effect that he may not a BAMF yet, but that he's going to be the next BAMF. Only 38, I think?

Looks like Arizona is on the verge of beating Okie State to force an elimination game. Anybody know anything about him? Thoughts?

Apparently, Kendall Rogers is saying Schlossnagle hasn't signed his extension.
People need to settle down and let Mike Perrin do what he does.

Nothing is coming out before Tuesday afternoon. The people following this process have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. I'm liking both those things.

Perrin is no lightweight. Let the process play out.

TCU just dropped two straight to Coastal Carolina to miss out on the CWS Finals.

Honest question; what are your thoughts on Schloss right this second? He can get them there, but can he can't seem to get them to the finals? Seems to trip up. This is his fourth trip to Omaha and he hasn't made it to the final series yet.

Not going to say that it's easy getting to the final series by any stretch, but if there was a year that was gift wrapped for him, it was this one. Coastal was depleted in the pitching staff, had to play 3 games in 3 consecutive days, and TCU was rested. Not sure what happened, but TCU just seemed to not have their heads in either game (yesterday or today.) Slim likened it to watching Texas play at times this year.

I'm not bagging on Schloss, TCU or their getting to Omaha. I am however interested in what the natives say about his teams' performance and how much of that reflects on his coaching.

I agree. I think Perrin has it under control.

And I'll be very surprised if the next head coach isn't someone who was/is coaching in the CWS. The main target(s) was always from that group of coaches.
