Whose next?
or it could be that UT let it be known we're going a different direction and he wanted to save face. Who knows?I wouldn't take these type comments seriously until it's verified we've actually been in contact with O'Connor.
I have no clue who the target is, but these type comments are pretty much meaningless. I'm sure O'Connor has no intentions of leaving UVA right now, but that means nothing if Texas offers something more desirable. See Saban.
Until there's actual verification of a coach we've contacted I wouldn't rule out anyone.
I even joked on twitter before this search started about how many coaches would say they have no interest in other jobs.
Let me put it this way, if O'Connor is the target these comments aren't going to stop Texas from pursuing him.
That's the thing, it hasn't even been verified who we have contacted. Weirdly enough it seems like the athletic department has become pretty good at keeping this stuff quiet.or it could be that UT let it be known we're going a different direction and he wanted to save face. Who knows?

No clue why he wouldn't be. For top targets in football Strong is the guy leading the way.But is your head coach a lead recruiter? I ask because I don't know, but assume he wouldn't be.
The bold part above sums everything up in a nutshell. Those who we think are out of play may very well still be in play. These are just the type reactions the Texas job creates. Coaches are going to get raises and make comments like this, when they might not even be legit targets. Same thing happened with the football job.
Until it's verified who we have contacted, I'm not ruling anyone out. Maybe we have already contacted O'Connor, who knows. There certainly hasn't been any verification that we have.
AAS said Casey was the top target this morning, 247 said Savage/O'Connor, HD said Pierce. In other words, nobody really has a clue.
There's no telling how this plays out until it's verified who we are truly after.
Let's see what happens with O'Sullivan now.— Twitter API (@twitterapi) November 7, 2011
We already have the facilities. The rumored issue with O'Sullivan was that Florida wouldn't upgrade facilities. If Florida's AD promised facility upgrades and retired out of the blue, I would think that would change things with O'Sullivan.Maybe, but how is the UT situation any better for O'Sullivan with an interim AD in place?

Seems to me like the Florida made some empty promises to O'Sullivan. Or maybe Florida worked this out on their end. Based on tweets the Foley retirement seems like a surprise though, even on Florida's end.
With that said, AAS said a few days ago we hadn't even been in contact with O'Sullivan.
