As far as position coaches go, Robinson's group has performed better than the position groups of most of our other assistants

In addition, we have recruited well at RB since he has been here

Give him however much credit you want for that, but those are the facts.
Higs is hinting that we have a replacement in the pipeline.

"I am NOT going to throw the name out there lol just know there is a plan in place. Sometimes coaches leave when you aren't expecting it to happen that is not the case with this situation"

"the other side of the coin is simple one door closes a new door opens"

Correction, school on the Robinson deal is USC.

And confirmed he is leaving Texas for that job.

Every time a recruit wants to go to an SEC school people start the $$ BS. Good lord... So aggy

On February 3rd do you think we land DJax?

Yes I do.

Losing Robinson is a loss as far as position coaches go. Not so much on the recruiting front.

Claude Mathis is not a front runner by any means. I think he's a name we'll see surface. Great recruiting potential in him.

Thing is, during his time as HC at DeSoto you had lots of success as a team, but players graduated and got lost for the most part. Maybe thats not an issue when he's a position coach, but certainly something to think about.

Per Higs:

"I thought everyone knew exactly what I was talking about with Tommie Robinson going to Southern Cal. Again, I believe it will be a 3 year deal run game coordinator and running back coach"

Higs also confirmed this was his "Bad News" from last month and then says "now everyone must wait for the equal and opposing reaction"
While I hate to see TR leaving, if this was the "bad" news then I'm ok with that. At least compared to losing Traylor, BJ or Vaughn.

As an African American i agree 100%

I think aggy may have benefited some in the past due to this general idea

But I also think it has run its course there, and is now starting to peter out.

What an amazing coincidence that the complete opposite of aggy_swag is now running the Longhorn Program.

The manner, nature and character of these two coaches make for such an strong and interesting contrast.

I usually dont like these like or engage in these discussions but, with it being MLK Day, expanding on content of character a little bit today seems appropriate.

I am a little sad about TR leaving. He has helped a young group of running backs perform pretty well. But i do think this is a prime opportunity for Traylor to get a promotion.

Lol it's a fact, black coaches relate better to the black players, it's a cultural fact , that's how Charlie is able to win the parents of these black athletes.
That's all UT needs is to get race thrown into the football program. Those statements are just plain bad.

I was thinking in the back of my mind Mathis does know some good prospects on the south of dfw

as much as some people may not like talking about race, its pretty relevant and important with a lot of these players. It is what it is, i am not oppose to the discussion but at the same time i dont embrace it.

Not true whatsoever, the last thing UT needs is to ignore issues of race (ex Mizzou) , whether you like it or not CS being black helps these parents make decisions on where to send thier kids. White coaches simply cannot relate and identity the needs of black athletes, this is something that has been proven over and over historically. And the exact quote had zero negative connotation so I don't know why you're upset , race issues in this country are real, they should never be ignored

The discussion in the barber shop after CS was hired went exactly like this "UT is gonna catch back up with A&M in recruiting now that they got a brother" btw I thought that the quote about the 80% thing made so much sense. I don't think that there are enough minority coaches in college football

I posted this ions ago (OK, it was Sunday Night, but that's ions in recruiting time).

You poo poo'ed my inclusion of Djax at that time

Flash forward a day+ and you are breaking news about Djax

Doesn't seem appropriate
Great googlely mooglely :)
