Okay, I'll Say It. I Want Tom Herman at Texas

Wasn't Foreman on your list of Mack's recruits a late verbal with Charlie when he arrived?

Foreman brothers were recruited by Mack and signed under Strong, same with Vahe.

The funny thing about the brothers.  Armanti was the target but to get him we offered his brother who wasnt highly regarded out of HS.  I am a big D. Foreman fan have been since freshmen year.

I only mention them as Mack's recruits because most supporters for Strong will argue that year wasnt "his guys" they were Mack's.  I can count them either way.  Not sure if Strong would have recruited on his own or not.  He came in so late that year he didnt have much time to build those recruiting relationships.

FWIW - Herman was just on sports radio here in Houston arguing with Nick Wright and John Lopez.  Came across terrible for Herman.

Lopez had the Allen to UH story weeks ago and reported Allen met with Herman in Houston in mid-December.  Several UH beat writers came out and said the story was categorically false.  After Allen announced he was going to UH Herman put out a statement saying that in a rush to be first and get the story some reporters forgot to check their facts (obviously alluding to the Lopez story).

Herman went on the radio with Lopez and his co-host Nick Wright and proceeded to argue with them for 15 minutes.  During the course of the argument Herman basically admitted that the reason he was pissed was that the writers who are most invested in the program (coincidentally the guys who refuted Lopez original report) missed out on an opportunity to report it first.

I read that as Herman being pissed because he wasn't able to trade favors with a couple of media guys he has in his pocket.

At the end of it all the only fact that was in dispute was that Lopez wrote that the meeting took place in Houston - it turns out the meeting actually happened over the phone.

But that is the very crux of the matter. An in face meeting would have been illegal in the dead period or while he was still on A&M's roster.

Herman said in the interview that the dead period didn't start until midnight the night they spoke (Sunday Dec 13).  It would not have been a recruiting violation even if they had met.

Herman was pissed about the word 'meet' because Herman had told a QB he was recruiting that he wouldn't 'meet' with any more QB's.  Herman was using the semantics defense.

OK that makes sense. I did not actually hear the interview myself.

I'm thinking Hermann should simply have ignored the whole matter rather than get in a pissing contest with someone like Lopez.

Yeah, Herman is splitting hairs over nonsense.

Here is the interview. Wow, Herman comes across as a jerk. I understand his anger with having to deal with the aggie John Lopez, but he's making a mountain out our of a molehill. He makes Lopez sound reasonable.

Hoping Herman learns from this before he goes to a major program.
Exactly. Once you make a splash as he has in the 2015 season, it's a whole different ballgame from here on. Especially if you're on a path to a major (Power 5) program.
