2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I don't think making a blanket statement about true freshman QB is the correct approach. Just like saying that you should never start a rookie QB in the NFL. The fact of the matter is there are some that are ready when they step on campus. However, they are rare and mostly from college sized high schools, so in the vast majority of cases you are correct.

What you don't want is having to start a freshman QB due to no other options. That's when it's bad for the kid, and normally bad for the program.
If any true freshman can start right away at a big time program, it's Murray.

Three straight 5A/6A TXHSFB titles, his dad Kevin as a QB coach/mentor, intense competition at the largest high school in TX every day. He may be able to handle it, but it certainly isn't an ideal situation. Especially since he won't be here until summer.

Barrett Sallee (lead SEC writer at Bleacher Report) on Kyler:

The battle for 5-star dual threat quarterback Kyler Murray will go down as one of the hottest recruiting rivalries in Texas history.

The longtime commit to Texas A&M officially visited Texas last week, and the battle between Aggies and the Longhorns is coming down to the wire, as B/R's Lars Anderson detailed in his piece on Murray's recruitment.

Will Murray stick or flip?

I'll say he flips.

True freshman Kyle Allen's emergence late in the 2014 season has blocked Murray from early playing time in College Station, and Texas has been looking for someone to take hold of its quarterback position ever since the Colt McCoy era.

Playing time is important.

As a hot shot baseball prospect, Murray is going to want to play if he does wind up playing college football, and Texas can offer a much greater chance of that than Texas A&M. In the end, though, I don't think it matters. If you get offered guaranteed pro baseball money in the draft, you tie guaranteed pro baseball money.

oh gooodness i forgot Strong has an inhome visit tonight with Hill i totally forgotten about that

CB, Kris Boyd, Gilmer

Texas was one of three schools Boyd was truly interested in from the beginning of his recruitment. Yet unlike the primary competition, Texas A&M, Boyd has been a priority of the Texas staff since the staff first saw him last year. Despite that, Texas didn't vault to the top of Boyd's list until early December, when Texas cornerbacks coach Chris Vaughn stayed for an entire Gilmer playoff game while coaches from A&M and Baylor bolted at halftime.

Primary competition: Texas A&M

Prediction: Texas
It's important to watch what people do… not what they say.

Little things matter. Proud to have the coaches we have.

"80% of success… is just showing up."

The value Chavis brought to aggy was name and reputation only. He's not that great of a recruiter. Does not like intermingling with the team. In fact, it was part of his contract with LSU that he not have to do those things. He stayed in the press box, called plays, and left after the game.

It's why LSU didn't fight to keep him. It was a situation they learned they didn't like so much after all.

Can someone explain the "Chollie" thing to me...
Can't. Aggy for some reason think it's a clever insult to Strong, just like they think "TU" is a clever insult to UT. Too much cowbell is bad for the brain.
