Advocare Texas Bowl: Texas vs. Arkansas

But we have seen zero development by any of the o-line players over 12 1/2 games. We all understand why the team was bad early in the year. It seems most o-line players have regressed. Not seeing much good coaching as the season progressed. There was no excuse for that chop block. It was entirely because of a lack of communication. Lineman not communicating in game 13 is not the fault of game one injuries.
Oh really? That's funny. Taylor Doyle is becoming a decent center. Until this season, he was written off as some favor Mack pulled. Darius James had become a bad ass until he got hurt.

Of course, two starters had their seasons ended by injury. Two others were suspended or kicked off the team. That's four of five starters gone.

I don't think chop blocks are a result of communication, one way or the other. I mean, what are you supposed to communicate? Don't do that, it's illegal?

We all knew that this was going to be a tough year, and had some huge holes. We can expect a new starting qb next year and took a decent 2014 OL recruiting class. I truly believe that our best skilled players are true freshmen on the offense . Our defense for the 2015 class is going to be nasty with the Florida boys and Malik. Strong and Co have developed too many NFL players for us to think they can't do it again when given the right amount of time. HOOKEM

Folks, it's not coaching. So don't go there. It's not like people forget how to coach when they enter the Austin city limits. Wickline is the finest OL coach in the country. But you cannot make gold out of straw.

These are not normal circumstances. This OL has not had 12 games together.

Like I said in an earlier thread, there was a meeting . . . one of those you saw in Remember the Titans between a couple of captains and a coach. As a result, an undersized Raulerson started today instead of Cam Hughes. I will be amazed if CH is still in the program next fall. If you had a tackling dumby lined up at RT, you'd have a better shot at protecting Swoopes.

It only takes one screw up to make the whole thing look bad on the OL. We're getting that one screw up consistently.
I know there are reasons for losses due to injury, suspensions, and lack of depth. We will to disagree on this one. I'm tired of making excuses for lack of effort. They have a great OL coach and they play like crap False starts to open the game and chop blocks, no communication whatsoever. No more excuses. Find willing players and get rid of cancer plaguing this team, which is obviously players who don't care if they don't try

Nvm. I know Wickline is a competitor This OL is terrible. I'll take the entire Allen OL And any walk ons over these scholarship players.

With our defensive alignment, we didn't stand a chance to stop that run to the right side. Had us outmanned before the snap. Poor coaching !!!!

Correction -- our offense now has 24 yards total, not 29

The play was a quick out to the right flat. Why were both lineman taking on the same DT? Because they weren't communicating on assignments. That goes on the center. A losing record, about to set a new program record for offensive ineptitude against a team that finished last in the SEC West. This team is just horrible. Just horrible. And the worst thing is that there will be no accountability for the coaching staff.
There was just no development all season by Swoopes, by the o-line, by the DBs, by special teams. Just an abortion of developing players.

It's a poor coaching decision to stick with Tyrone Swoopes after watching him practice and then play so poorly that the most they can generate is 29 yards of offense after 3 weeks of practice time and a whole season of evaluation. If Heard is so bad that he can't replicate a performance like this then he has no business on the team. The player evaluation on offense has been very poor. A mobile QB can help a weak O-line. Our QB would rather had the ball off to a back that's going to run for a 1 yard loss then actually run through a wide open hole. I'm not calling for Strong's head but if he chooses to stick with Watson running the offense, I'll start to question him.

I don't get it. How are you forced to commit a penalty in a double team on a DT? And how are you assuming that wasn't the intended block?

The team you're dissing shut out Ole Miss and LSU.

Never seen someone diss both teams in the same post, but ok.

The team is performing poorly, especially offensively. But I think the better question here is why did you think that suddenly this OL would be good and Swoopes would somehow become a different QB? That's on you, not Charlie.

Nevertheless, I seriously doubt Charlie avoids accountability. I've never seen him do that before and have no idea why you pulled that out.

Swoopes isn't a QB. At least half the OL isn't D1 OL. You can't develop what isn't there and these are the bottom of the barrel.

But hey, don't let me stop you from your coronary.

You won't get a football smart post from RD so I wouldn't even bother. Does anybody know why the field is in such terrible shape?

There will be zero accountability when it comes to the coaching staff. No offensive development, poor schemes, a total failure of special teams all season. And that is just for starters. Plenty of failures on the part of the coaching staff, but because people are willing to make excuses and blame everything on the players, those problems will still define the program next year.
