2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I remember everyone saying the same thing about Heard.  Its the precursor to the excitement on every recruit.  Most know I am not Swoopes fanboy.  Its difficult to believe that Heard was worse than what we saw in the TCU.  At that point Im sure they wanted to save his RS, but why not during the KState game?  There were numerous bad games by Swoopes.  Then everyone talked about how Watson wont play true freshmen.  Now its Kyler Murray and he hasnt even committed yet.  Ah the Merry-go-round.  I will hold my excitement til it materializes whether its his commitment or him beating out Heard and Gentry.

You should watch a replay of the 6A Dv 1 state final. Murray's arm is clearly stronger than Heards.

What you're not considering is the fact that Murray has had the luxury of two things Heard was not:

1. A dedicated QB coach for his whole HS career. A benefit of attending Allen ISD

2. Being the son of a very successful college QB.

Together, his IQ is miles ahead of his counterparts.

Heard can be a much better QB than Swoopes. But he'll need to learn the offensive scheme in order to show that. Last I heard his light was turning on.

Higdon over at Scout said we have 3 silent commits. Take that as you will. If it's true my guess it's the Florida boys. Irvin, Clarington and Davis.

Simply going by their twitter positiveness, I would guess Clarington, Davis and Johnson.

Irvin would also be terrific, and he has more time pressure.

Other than them, maybe Boyd or Newsome or Warren?

SHA,

I live in Allen.  My daughter graduated from Allen last year and knows Murray.  She was a Talonette and was assigned his jersey when he was a junior.   All she ever talked about was how good he was.  Believe me I heard it everyday, in the teenage dramatical way.  I also heard everyday how he was all Aggie, this killed my daughter cause she was all Texas.  I watched him play when I attended the games, I know he is very good.  I know how this city is regarding football, we refuse to split up the HS into two schools to keep all the talent under one roof and built that huge stadium.  My son plays on the football B team and I believe they have like 4-5 teams with hundreds of kids on each team.  Rockwall and Plano always gives us shit for gaming the system to keep all the talent in one high school.  Allen takes Texas HS football to another level fanatic wise.  So the dedicated QB, ILB and OLB coaches and such doesnt surprise me at all.

All I am saying is after seeing the disaster we saw from Swoopes most of the year, its hard to imagine Heard could be any worse.  Since Heard didnt play after the K-State game then your insider quote made sense to me.  Watson mentioned it wasnt just picking up the offense playbook, it was learning how to progress through his reads, recognize blitzes and coverages, etc.  Swoopes didnt do any of that in his last game or much of the season, he would stare down his ONE receiver and force the ball.  Im not the Swoopes fanboy, but to be fair he wasnt a polished QB in HS and Murray obviously is.  But until Murray commits you will have to forgive my lack of enthusiasm.

Murray should go to Texas.  His future in baseball would be the safer bet due to his height.  Calvin Murray his uncle was an All American under Gus.  If Watson would play the kid, thats a big if to me, then he could be a great QB at Texas.  But we are all just guessing anyways.  No one here knows he will commit much less play next year.  I for one hope he does but just sayin.

On another note, my ex is a counselor at Aledo and she tells me Newsome is all horns.  Thats the extent of my lame insider information lol.

Here is a Sean Adams piece from today (Monday) on the MJ effect--

But probably nothing you dont already know --

Every recruiting class needs a voice and an example. Jefferson is that.

Recruits listen to him and are drawn to him. He could play a huge role in closing out the 2015 class on a high note that could move Texas into the Top 10, ironically, somewhere close to the Aggies.

He is already reaching out to recruits and using social media to forward his message…

Tweet sent out 12.21.14 (Sunday) – Malik Jefferson (@Official_MalikJ)

“Don’t go anywhere that you can’t be developed. (As a man & ballplayer)â€

Friday’s announcement at Poteet HS got the University of Texas two really good football players but could mean 10 more players over the next 15 months.

It also stems the tide in this faux war with Texas A&M where the Aggies were winning and apparently running the state of Texas, just because they created the hashtag.

Momentum is on the side of Texas right now and the Longhorns just need to build on it."

I was fine with Swoopes being the QB this year due to the staff's leadership being defensive oriented and having Brown and Gray in the backfield.  It was always going to be ball control and Tyrone flashed vs. UCLA and OU providing hope that there was more there.  With that said, Swoopes regressed when teams started to slow down the running game limiting play action and the ability to simply throw to his first option as he simply didn't read his progressions.  The thing that disappointed me the most with Tyrone was his body language.  Your leader has to be able to move on to the next play and he seems to have alot of trouble with that.  The QB discussion is going to be the hot topic until the team takes the field at South Bend next year whether Murray commits to UT or not.

But, if it is, then this list is looking pretty awesome for the 23rd ......

Same as DT Daylon Mack, WR DaMarkus Lodge, TE Chris Clark, WR John Burt and TE Camrin Knight

Maybe Holton Hill, Jamabo,Kendall Sheffield and others too, we will see.

I think you've forgotten the point I was arguing.  I never argued Swoopes was great (or even good), I argued against your belief that a QB had to be 'vocal' and 'demonstrative' on the sideline to be a leader (hence my eye roll to the 'poor body language comment').  Piss all over Swoopes all you want - he was the best we had last season after Ash was lost.

Coincidentally, and this relates to Malik Jeffersons tweet about only going somewhere where you might be developed, it might be argued that Tyrone Swoopes this year was Shawn Watsons best single-season coaching job.  He took a kid who was considered a position switch to TE after spring ball and got him ready enough to play QB for the Longhorns.

Here we go again.

I guess "ready to play QB" has a wide spectrum for some.  The argument was whether he was improving or not.  So in your eyes he improved from his first game to his last?  This is where we disagree.  As for being a leader, his body language, confidence level was so obviously not there.  Watch the hype video in the Texas bowl game thread and tell me your thoughts on leadership on the offense.  Swoopes doesnt have it.  As much as I hold your opinion in high regard (forgive my eye roll as well ), for you to say the QB doesnt have to be a leader on offense is just funny as hell.  I guess Charlie was wrong too, when he said the QB has to be a leader since the ball is in his hands most of the time.  I guess the true frosh Mahommes at Tech didnt lead his team to a near upset over Baylor and Murray doesnt lead his Eagles either.  We can go on and on, but watch that video with regards to the players and no offensive leadership since VY and Colt and make your point again.

Watson was dealt what he was dealt, since Mack recruited Swoopes not Watson.

I never said that.  I didn't even come close to saying that.

What I said was that you don't need to be 'vocal' or 'demonstrative' on the sidelines to be a leader.
