Garrido, a coaching icon, spent 20 seasons at Texas and won two national championships with the Longhorns (2002, 2005).  He stepped down as head coach in 2016 after finishing the season with a 25-32 record.

He is the winningest coach in college baseball history, amassing 1,975 wins over the span of nearly 5 decades.

Garrido, along with former LSU head coach Skip Bertman, threw ceremonial first pitches at the LSU – Texas baseball series in Baton Rouge on February 23rd.
